Nate has clearly stated numerous times it’s not about who starts it’s about who closes the games. And yes the numbers show that in more limited minutes Dioubate was the better player in every facet of the game.

Mo only took 26 3's to Jarin's 101 attempts. It's not really an apples to apples comparison. Regardless I don't think either are that big a loss as long as Reid comes back.

Sure. And in 98% of games Max Scharnowski played in we won. Maybe he was the best player on the team.

You can pick random stuff from MO’s limited minutes and uncontested threes.

I liked the guy but Jesus Christ yall are glazing him.

Yet Jarin made nearly triple the amount of threes because Mo only took 26 attempts on the year. I think Mo is the better overall player right now, but let's not pretend like he's a better shooter. One look at any one of those 26 attempts could've told you that.

I think you have to look at it more in totality.

The best guy we’re getting in Bethea. The best guy we’re losing is Jarin. That’s a tough trade, but Bethea is more of a need and has more upside.

Bol Bowen or Mo? Again, Bol Bowen has more upside. Longer, better shooter. Presumably won’t come back asking for more money every other Tuesday. They were in the same class and ranked almost the same out of high school and again now in the portal.

And then Naas or Williamson. It was worth taking a flyer on Naas but clearly something wasn’t clicking so if Williamson does literally anything that’s a net positive.

Guys are going to leave. I was bummed about Mo. I’m even more bummed about Jarin. But I’m extremely excited about the guys we’re bringing in.

I think most of this is fair, but this isn't looking at it in true totality. We have to not only get better, but significantly so through the portal considering what we lost the moment the season ended. I really like both the Bethea and Bol Bowen additions, but we're going to need a lot more considering those guys are really replacing Sears's and Nelson's (Not just Mo and Jarin) production until more additions are made.

couple of things

a) he has MUCH longer arms than Jarin, and has quicker feet. He can legitimately switch 1-5 on defense.

b) Jarin was 6'8 at the combine last year, not 6'11. And no, basketball shoes don't give you 3 inches. Maybe 1-1.5 with compression. We don't know if Bowen's listed height includes shoes or not. But he looks a tad taller.

This is true. In looking at the roster, if Reid and Philon stay we have 12 guys on the roster that are all going to expect to play.

I assume one of the freshmen will play very sparingly. Wrightsell still a huge question mark coming off an achilles. That still 10 deep of minutes you have to find for all of them. I don’t know how much more portal big game hunting we’re doing if everyone is coming back.

Don't want to be negative but I would prefer Steveson over Bol Bowen. Looks skinny to me in highlights and same height as Jarin.

Bol Bowen is a very similar player to Stevenson, but is currently better in just about every facet of the game. Doesn't mean it will remain the case next season, because a lot of Jarin's problems are between the ears, but I would have been thrilled if Jarin looked like TBB next year. Plus, while Jarin has a little more size (slightly), he's never used it, which has been my main complaint with him. Way too timid with contact on both ends.

Do you think you know more basketball than Nate Oats? Because he started Jarin in about half the games and played him more minutes. So I don’t have to name 2 things he does better. I’ll let the guy making millions of dollars a year who is our best coach ever be the judge. And he already was.

was fully prepared to just ignore such a silly claim as jarin being a bigger loss than mo as from a team and individual perspective it was quite objectively not even a debate worth having, but to then try and use oats's salary and the fact he tried starting him for a bit on the perimeter as a way to justify it is borderline criminal behavior. i mean its fine that youll miss jarin alot and all but dude, oats isnt on your side on this one and no level of jarin glazing will change that. lol

I don’t really care what you think. Most of your post on here are very low IQ and don’t show a basic understanding of basketball.

Jarin helped us make a Final 4. Forever Grateful for that.

He also cost us a Final 4 this year by not boxing out in Knoxville. He boxes out we win that game and are in Houstons region(a team we OWN) instead of Dukes.

He will always be potential IMO and I hope Im wrong. His 1 good game out of every 10 played wasn't worth it.

Those %’s are misleading for Mo. It was on 26 shots for the season, less than 1 per game, and they were essentially set shots because he was usually dared to shoot. No one with a lick of sense thinks Mo is a 40% 3pt shooter.

I loved Mo, but acting like he is a 40% 3pt shooter based on last year’s performance is fools gold. Mo is tough, gritty, underrated even offensively gifted around the basket, etc., but considering him to be a 3pt weapon at this point is an illusion.

SI has a mock draft with Phi going 24 in first round. First one I have seen in a while with him going that high. Will he or wont he?

He must’ve forgotten Mo won us the game against Grand Canyon. He also saved our butts in the tournament his year hitting two threes to put the game out of reach against st Mary’s. I don’t get why some people are downplaying Mo D to hype up Jarin. It’s honestly no comparison. As mistaken said if we have Mo D in instead of Jarin against Tennessee we easily make another final four. That non box out was a killer.

Feel like Reid probably back at this juncture because he has a good chance of playing 20mpg given attrition with the swing forward types.

You’re right. Hopefully we can land Murphy and Philon come back and that’ll be a good roster.

Has anyone heard anything about candidates after Coach Pannone’s departure?
