We’re losing Cliff and Nelson. We’ve brought in a guy like TBB who can fill in some of what Grant did and Williamson as a big because we’re down to 1 true center. I don’t think we can read into anything as far as our current guys.

I agree.

Good shooter...can still add to his offensive game!

A great weak side defender as well.

You got Jemison in the wrong category.

Dude can play a lot of positions. 1-4!

Yeah, Bol definitely seems like the Nelson replacement.

He's probably more athletic than Grant. On defense he can switch 1-5 and has great defensive effort, which is MASSIVE for what Oats generally wants to do on that end of the floor. His offensive game it still developing. But he is an excellent pickup and exactly what we needed. Athletic with long arms and high effort is just what the doctor ordered.

And a good outside shooter to keep the lane unclogged.

I've watched quite a few of his highlights. He honestly looks like a replacement for Stevenson. He is who we've wanted Stevenson to be for 2 years.

LOVE it! Absolutely PERFECT fit for us... offensively and defensively. Tall, long, extremely athletic, shoots >40% from 3, blocks, and is elite at running the floor and finishing in transition. Maybe outside of his weight, you almost couldn't design a more ideal non-center big guy for us. Great picuup!

As of now, Stevenson is still on the team. Grant isn't. Stevenson can also play the 3 with Bowen at the 4, like he did with Grant at the 4.

We're definitely not doing Grant and Cliff replacements.

Williamson's skillset is much closer to Grant's than TBB's IMO. TBB is a little unique relative to Oats' past few teams. He had more stocks this season than anyone on our team (72 total). Protects the rim and can guard 1-4 pretty easily (he's a little slight of frame to guard the 5 spot).

What has me most excited is that TBB causes a lot of live ball turnovers by virtue of his 1-on-1 defense, either by picking pockets with his long arms or blocking shots, which leads to transition buckets. Our defense hasn't been great at creating live ball turnovers (and it's not really designed to), so that's a huge plus. And the guy is going to be an absolute nightmare cover in transition. Big time lob threat and three-point threat.

To add to my glee about landing Bowen, a couple more things came to mind.

Looking at his highlights, he should be absolutely elite in the lob/alley-oop game that we like so much. Maybe even better than Cliff at it. Seems to be a very explosive leaper.

Also, I love the fact that he seems like a guy who is just beginning to tap into his potential and we get him for potentially two years. VERY far from a maxed out guy. Looks like a guy with NBA potential if his offensive game keeps developing (and his already good shot will certainly help with that).

Watch Bowen’s highlights before you comment.

Dude shut up. Everyone is tired of your schtick. We could sign a fricking handicapped equipment manager and you’d say “definitely taking minutes from Stevenson”

Can you hit the transfer portal instead?

Yep, that's the best Bama comp from recent years. A little better shot than Clowney (when he was here), but Clowney was probably a little better on the glass.
