Sorry, he’s just not that good. Shot 33% from 3 and under 40% from 2 in conference play. On the season, shot 36% from 3 (34% if you remove the two outlier games), 51% at the rim, and 19% on non-rim 2s.
Not to mention his ball-handling, playmaking, and defense are nonexistent.

Guys, North Dakota is 12-21. The 2nd and 3rd option shoot 21 and 23% from deep respectively. The PG averages 2.4 APG (to 2 TOPG) with no other teammate eclipsing the 2 APG mark. You know how easy it is to gameplan against a shooter in that circumstance?

Ball-handling and playmaking isn't bad at all for his position. The defense looks bad, but when the team is the 336th ranked defense, it's hard to judge an individual on their defense when the problem is very clearly coaching. Mallette looked like a very bad defender last year at Pepperdine in a similar situation and in his limited time this year he didn't look too bad on that end.

He did great this year. But is 1 year of D1 basketball experience, replacing a successful coach, enough for him to have earned a huge promotion? I know the won a lot in D2. But it seems like he basically just kept the train on the tracks at Drake. He might be amazing, but the rise just seems a little too fast to go from D2 to Indiana in 1 season. Iowa, I guess I could see.

Well, had a hotel booked for Lexington, where the #1 2 seed will play. But I'm feeling like Fla and Tenn will bump up down to the #2 2 seed. Does anybody know where that game will be played?
