I have to believe that Stevenson is both a model teammate and a practice beast, but is suffering from some kind of mental block that prevents it from carrying over into real games. Those things are extremely important to Nate, so it would make sense that he'd stick with a guy who is doing everything the right way behind the scenes. That's really the only explanation I can come up with for why he's still consistently getting minutes. I really hope it turns around for him soon.

Not sure of the current stats (and haven’t searched) but after the Kentucky game he was leading the team in +/- for the season.

He’s shooting 33% from 3 since the 0-18 start. Shot 2/2 against Georgia.
Sometimes I wonder if you guys even watch our games…

That’s a little misleading. He had 1 3 game stretch where he went 7/10.
He went 0/18 and then went 7/10. Since that 7/10 stretch he is 8/34…which is 23%

Let’s meet in the middle. In conference play he’s shooting about 31% from 3

My opinion:
Jarin Stevenson plays good defense...(He occasionally leaves his FEET/come out of his SEAT sometimes) but I honestly think he's our best on ball defender outside of Mo!
Offensively, it's strictly just a confidence thing!
He's going to come around. He should be shooting around 30-34% from three points range!

I mean I don't get to watch as many live as I used to because I have kids, so I rely on DVR a lot more these days, but I probably watch 90% of our games just like I have for as long as I can remember. But yeah, sure.
Let's just ignore the 0-18 start from 3. Even after that do you really think he's having the kind of season he had hoped for? He shot 32% from 3 last year. His production has mostly stagnated or decreased. You've lost your mind if you think he isn't disappointed in how things have gone for him this season. I don't think it's all that crazy to say I hope he gets back onto a positive development track.

Tide Hoops History @BamaHistory
Exactly 100 years ago today, legendary @AlabamaMBB coach Hank Crisp led the Crimson Tide to its first program victory over the Kentucky Wildcats, 24-15, with a score more suited to the gridiron than the hardwood on Feb. 5, 1925, in Tuscaloosa.
Crisp became the first of only three Alabama head coaches to beat Kentucky in their first attempt. The nine-point victory was also only the second meeting between the schools. Two years earlier, Kentucky won the inaugural game, 45-35, in Lexington.
The only other Alabama coaches that beat the Wildcats in their first attempt were Paul Burnam and Mark Gottfried.
Filling in for Crisp during World War II, Burnam coached just one season (1942-43) and on Jan 30, 1943, he led Alabama to a 41-32 victory over Kentucky in Tuscaloosa.
During his three-year playing career for the Crimson Tide, @markgottfried23 had a 2-6 record against Kentucky, but when he returned as the head coach in the 1998-99 season he led his alma mater to a stunning 65-28 victory over the No. 5-ranked Wildcats in Coleman Coliseum on Feb. 6, 1999.

How Nate Oats is Operating Alabama Basketball's Bye Week (SI)
The Crimson Tide's midweek bye comes at a perfect time as the back half of SEC play features seven straight ranked opponents after road trips to Arkansas and Texas.

It’s so hard to do (I’m very guilty) but we gotta stop analyzing his performances based on if the 3s fall. If that was solely why he was out there….well he would’ve been benched. He starts as an oversized 3 that, in theory, is competent at everything, gives us NBA size and length throughout the front-court, and makes us well rounded enough at the beginning of games to give Oats substitution flexibility
Personally I’m a fan of starting Reid and letting Mo D be the demon off the bench. But as always, TRUST IN OATS

That's kind of been my position with him. I have never really cared about his outside shooting because honestly I have never been in love with him camping out and shooting corner 3's and for the most part I think most of our opponents give him and Grant that shot. I think he puts adequate pressure on defenses when he plays downhill and is a threat on dribble drive. Of course he has no idea what to do when he get's there and generally becomes a 6'1 guard when he gets under the rim, but he still softens up defenses with the threat.
I will credit him with the fact that it's not lack of effort. He plays hard, unfortunately he is not terribly instinctive.
I was reading posts regarding Mo D playing limited minutes due to the fact that he exerts so much energy with his playing style. I would counter that Mo D is a very instinctual player defensively and in pretty much every every regard around the rim in rebounding and cheap baskets. Sure he plays hard, but Mo always looks in control and balanced. I watch Jarin and im tired for him because he is constantly running 1000 miles an hour, getting contorted in all directions, spinning around like a top. That to me appears far more exhausting.

I don't disagree with any of that. I wasn't the one who brought up his outside shooting. He obviously is doing everything asked of him in a way that is satisfactory to Oats. Otherwise he wouldn't be playing. All I said is that I hope he turns it around soon, and apparently he has, to the tune of the exact same shooting % he had last season of you disregard his first 18 misses. I just want to see the kid have a breakout game. He's gotta be working hard for it.

I'm so glad I don't have to watch Rick Barnes ball every week.

He pretty much has to have a guy who can score outside the structure of the offense for his teams to be immune to shitting the bed on that end every few games.

Arkansas going from 1-5 complete cellar dweller to hottest team in the nation in a span of 4 days right before we play them at Barnhill is familiar.
And you know Jimmy Dykes will be on that call.

Ummm, Arkansas is way below a bubble team now. Thus, if they were to stomp our arse, they would get back to the bubble.
