So does Charlie Henry suck as a coach and it was Herb and JP that masked a ton of deficiencies?

I obviously don't know for sure, but I think the personnel this year just isn't nearly as good defensively as last year's squad was.

Look at what Herb is doing to All-NBA level wing talent. Bruner was also an exceptional help defender, especially before having both knees operated on in the middle of the season. Also had two 6'5"/6'6" wings in Petty and Primo.

They were all essentially replaced with Gurley, JD and Bediako. Gurley and JD are both below average defenders and Chuck gets pushed around and/or can't stay out of foul trouble.

Staff needs to look long and hard at what other options we have defensively. Maybe they did and that's why started out in zone to begin the game. We also just might have to outscore everyone to win games.

Missed the game today unfortunately. What happened? Did JD hurt us? I see oats talking about minutes for other players.

Glad to see he had a good game. I think if it clicks with him, especially defensively, we will be a different team altogether.

Alabama freshman C Charles Bediako played a season-low 8 minutes but had 4 rebounds. Nate Oats said they tried a zone defense to start to keep Bediako on the floor, but abandoned that after Missouri's 9-0 start. Oats didn’t like Bediako’s matchups in man-to-man.

So we got abused in the paint and on the boards, and we played Bediako 8 minutes…

Hmm…

Maybe a timeout to make an adjustment or even halftime would’ve been a good place to adjust things
Sorry, but I don't believe there is an adjustment for being out "physicaled".
Apparently we just don't have the personnel to compete on and around the boards with big, physical inside players.
