Feels fortunate to be only down 3.
The most basic thing is Gurley can’t pick up that 3rd foul. We also need JD to be more assertive.

We are shooting FTs well so we can’t use that as an excuse this time. The effort just isn’t there all around. I don’t think our players are focused this year

He's a 19 year old 6'3" 200 lb PG with ball handle skills and court vision that can play above the rim as an athletic freak. Very few guys (basically none) are finished products the night they are drafted. Execs dream of guys with the combination of built in talent and potential that JD has. Just because he hasn't (or doesn't) put it all together as a freshman in college won't stop an NBA team from using a first round pick on a player like that imo.
He would probably be better served returning for a second season and improving some of the things that NBA draft feedback would advise, but that seems unlikely for a kid like JD from Letohatchee. He's obviously not ready to start for a good NBA team, but that's not really what the draft is about for every selection. Look how much Herb has improved after just six months in an NBA organization. As good as he was for us last year, he's made astronomical improvements in his game in a very short period of time.
JD's biggest problem right now (not including defense) is confidence and deferring too much. If he spent more time attacking the rim instead of looking for someone to pass to he'd average 10 FT's a game.

He will get drafted on athleticism and potential. But he is nowhere near ready and IMO better be ready to spend at least 2 years in the G-League
