Gary came off the big guy over and over to help the guard that got beat and it was a dunkfest. Either that or we doubled someone on the perimeter and gave up an open shot.

They had a lot of athletes on that team and we picked the wrong game to play them.

Gary is being asked to be a power forward and hes really not. Gurley so far has been a major disappointment. Bediako is playing pretty well for a freshman but we have to have some bigs come through or this team will not be able to go very far.

Yep. We just seemed to consistently make the wrong decision on the ball screen AND were a step slow.

I'm guessing part of that was a little dead legs, part was Memphis playing with back against the wall energy and part was just they are insanely athletic.

All in all, bad combo.

Right now we are a skilled team but not a tough team. Last years group wasn’t quite this skilled but they were tough as shite.

We should have tried to get Reese back for a Super Senior year

Agreed. Slow and unathletic. He looks like he swallows a handful of tranquilizers before the game.

Unfortunately, I'm not sure where the answers are for our weakness down low. Gary is limited, Miles doesn't play low defense and rebound well, Ellis isn't tall enough and is more of a swing player, KAH and Alex don't see the court and we know about Gurley. Rojas will bring energy but he is very limited also. We need Bediako to continue to develop. He's got to stay out of foul trouble and get after the rebound. Our guards playing better on ball defense would help out a lot.
I know Oats wants to stick to man defense but we might need to mix in some match up zones here and there. We can't keep allowing blow bys. It puts our bigs in a no win situation and really hurts our defensive rebounding.

Our backup PG averaging more rebounds than our starting center and seems like a problem.

This team will go as far as the bigs will let it go. We can't beat the real good teams getting killed inside like this.

Yea - we certainly have issues at the 4/5. We have some nice players, but they have weaknesses (Bediako young/slim, Gary height/athleticism, Gurley basically everything).

Could really use KAH and Tchikou to give us a boost, but clearly the staff doesn't think they are able or they'd be using them.

Sounds like my anniversary fell on a good day this year. I wasn't able to watch the game, but this was the outcome I expected. Memphis had to have this one and has one of the most talented rosters in the NCAA. Just like Gottfried's underperforming teams, they're going to have some pretty nights where they look like a top team. Also coming off of a tightly contested and high-intensity game against Houston definitely doesn't help.

Nope. We have been lucky to outshoot teams with elite post players, but they still killed un the boards for the most part.

I mean Duren is a lottery pick for a reason, but he had a field day with little to no resistance.

As far as playing Memphis, we have no one that's going to match up with Duran.
We really needed our guards to play strong and they just didn't. Keon looked better and JD did some good things but Shack and Q weren't there for us. Not sure how much was the tough Houston game we just came out of and traveling to a hostile crowd but they have to be better and show max effort.
If we have a chance to mix some guys in Saturday and get them some experience and confidence, we need to.
These games are going to happen. We have to improve, mature and keep working toward our goals. I still feel like we have a chance to do something special.

I gave a completely logical opinion on tonight’s game that I was worried and you personally attacked me and multiple others. GFY, your parents may not have taught you but here is some advice..... To get respect you have to give it first.

Also I’m only 37....that ain’t old homie
