I really want to believe Nate is the man to do big things here. I think his approach is sound and generally a more fun brand of ball for the players and fans.
But the way this season went is just an absolute wet blanket. The team had no defensive fundamentals. The inside passing was pitiful because it looked like nobody had any rhythm or feel for each other. This was a team of individuals not individuals in a team…

Agree - this season was tough to watch and unless you are lying to yourself it absolutely throws a little doubt in your mind.
Hopefully next year we see a group that spent 6 months purging all the things we all hated from the last 2 months.

Nate is the answer .. he ll recruit well because todays blue chippers love this system. Hes still young in his career and id challenge anyone who may doubt him to name a better replacement we could REALISTICALLY get. His roster didnt look how it should have looked this year and despite the flaws in this team he held it together under the circumstances. Hes recruited this next class to correct those deficiences , u can do alot with a long, athletic roster. I hope gary comes back, gurley should feel more empowered to lead now that he isnt the new guy anymore, and burnett and bediako can be key pieces

No doubt n my mind george, he won at BUFFALO... Let that sink in. Not jumping u because youre ways level and reasonable but my point still stands... Who would we want that we could realistically get to get this program to the next step ?

I don't want to fire him or anything but the NCAA highway is littered with bodies of guys who won at hard to win at mid majors and never could figure it out at high major jobs.

My doubts are probably not shared by many, but where I really need to see some improvement from the staff is player evaluation. Both in terms of ability and personality/character.

I understand what you’re saying, and I’m not saying that we should fire Oats, but he has to shoulder some blame. Also, it’s not fair to remotely compare Oats and Barnes. Oats could very well end up being a great, but at this point, it’s like comparing Saban to Tom Herman
Tom Herman took 2 different clubs to league championships, one of which won the SEC regular season and tournament championship and was a poor FT shooting performance away from an elite 8 in year 2?

100% share those, and the portal transactions will be the first step in that.

I just don't think comparing basketball and football coaches makes any sense at all. The nature of program building, how you judge success, full season vs postseason specific, roster turnover, etc. is just completely different.

I've followed Alabama basketball for a long time. I remember beating my head against a wall watching the last few years of Gottfried and Grant and Avery lead this program. Oats is a great recruiter and his system can work with the right players. For whatever reason, this team couldn't gel consistently and who knows how the game goes today if JQ doesn't get injured. I'm excited to see how next years team shapes up.

It in much better shape now no doubt. Still there are some questions imo considering how we played from January on.

I think 90% of us are in the same boat
- Like Oats, like his recruiting, like the way we play
- Are disappointed/frustrated with the way this team played for the majority of the season
- Look forward to next year, but want to see a different team with a different focus/intensity level

Better see us sign at least one dude with production at the P-6 level out of the portal.

Ding, Ding.
I think what he wants Alabama basketball to be is the right approach. I am damn disappointed that this team wasn’t anything close to what he is trying to do.

Not if the player is too fricking lazy to show up to a voluntary shootaround the night before a fricking NCAA tournament game. Same goes for Gary. If you want to stand in the corner waiting on someone to pass you the ball so you can shoot a 3, maybe fricking practice enough that you don't brick or airball 80% of them.
Summed it up………
