It’s practically a miracle that we are a top 10 team when we are squarely in a quadrant with UGA, USCe, and Vandy in Bball…and we’re worse than all 3 in the chart. That better get fixed or we won’t stay top 15 for long.

The 2 closest to us on the chart are Louisville and Cal. They have a combined record of 2-21. That’s mind blowing.

Clearly we are doing some other things well to compensate (rebounding, probably effective FG % against, etc.). But the law of averages says we can’t continue giving up 7 more TOs than we get and win big games.

TO differential against good teams:
Gonzaga -12
Memphis -9
Houston -5
UNC -4
UConn -9
Mich St +1

We were pretty fortunate to win the Memphis game at -9. Think they missed a bunch of layups that game. The UNC and Houston games could have gone either way down the stretch, and the one game we took care of the ball against Mich St is the game we won handily.

Would be interesting to see what’s the furthest a team has made it in March with a -5 or worse TO margin on the season, but I can’t imagine it’s beyond sweet 16 if that (I’m sure there’s an outlier that got hot from 3s), or % of teams with that level of TO margin that even make the Tourney.

In summary, this young team needs to learn to take care of the ball if we want to be special. We can’t use our rebounding advantage if you don’t get a shot up.

Alabama is a 29-point favorite tonight against Jackson State and can improve to 10-2, which would be its best 12-game start since it began 11-1 in 2006-07

We are a top 10 ranked team with a top 10 SOS. Why can’t we just enjoy that?

Bama basketball fan PTSD is real. When we see a couple cracks in the wall we assume it’s only a matter of time before the whole house comes tumbling down.

We are #317 in turnover percentage

Theoretically, you’d think our turnover rate would be better with shorter possessions.

The flip side is we generally have more possessions because of the tempo we play with.

It’s definitely one of our biggest issues. If we can at least match our opponents turnovers, we are good enough on the boards to steal possessions.

We are a legit top 10 team. If we can Get Burnett and Welch back healthy and in the swing of things by March I think we will be one of the 5 best teams going into the tournament.

We put up a pretty good fight vs Gonzaga despite missing both of them. Quinerly will be a lot better a month from now than he was last game too.

Burnett could be back by the end of January of he is out 6 weeks. Jan 22nd will be 6 weeks from his surgery date.

I think some are underestimating how much we miss his defense, Gonzaga Wouldnt have scored 100 if he had played that game, thats for sure.

All teams deal with injuries and its not a good excuse I get it, but at least we get him back this season, that will help us a lot, we obviously miss him a lot on defense. He has shown some flashes of an being SEC all defensive team type defender.

Since we are favored by about 30 points tonight I hope we can let Griffen play 20 or 25 minutes and see what he can do. He seems pretty close to putting it all together.

OT post, but I had to.

Everybody knows Lance Stephenson from the NBA, right?

Well he has a younger brother. Looks like he is class of 2025. No idea if he is any good or not, but his name is awesome.

Lantz Stephenson.
