I actually think he has been, but we have the help defense that we didn’t a year ago
He's 100% our worst defender and still someone I would label as a liability on that end, but not near the one he was last year. He's giving effort on that end this year.
The biggest issue with the defense last was the defense easily collapsing due to the penetration our guards allowed with zero resistance. JQ gets blown by a good bit, but he's at least making them fight a little before allowing it.

BREAKING: Texas Tech's Fardaws Aimaq is expected to transfer, source told @stadium.
Aimaq transferred this past year from Utah Valley, where he averaged 18.9 ppg 13.6 rpg per game.
Has yet to play this season while recovering from a broken foot. Hard cast was removed Monday.
quote:
One key reason Aimaq is transferring is because he feels he is being rushed back too quickly by Mark Adams from injury, source close to Aimaq told @stadium. Adams said publicly Aimaq would be back playing by Jan. 1. Source said Aimaq had hard cast removed Monday after 12 weeks.

I don't know what a lot of people are seeing from JQ but I see a guy who at times press to try too make something happen that's when he turns it over.
People can say whatever they want I understand that but Jahvon Quinerly is the ONLY player on this team who can get by anybody at anytime he wants.
Jahvon Quinerly only issue right now is that he's lacking CONFIDENCE. He's missing layups/floaters, wide open three's, and turning it over here lately. (He's darn good at layups if nothing else)
Quinerly has defended, rebounded, and been a better teammate than last season.
A CONFIDENT Jahvon Quinerly is better than anybody in the country and he's already proven it. Keep working JQ despite the noise!
Unless I missed something, the conversation on him has been on the defensive end, and mine was a compliment. As for the offense, he's clearly not ready for big minutes in big games. There is still a lot of rust to knock off. I'd argue that right now, he's a little too confident in himself, which has led to a lot of ball-stopping and turnovers. I think Oats used him more appropriately last night as more of a secondary ball-handler while Bradley took over the primary role when he was on the floor.
Edit: That isn't to say he can't work himself back into that primary role.

I love JQ and recognize he’s the only guy on this team who can create his own shot. That being said, he’s the worst defender on the team by a long shot. He’s an extremely valuable part of this team, and it’d be foolish to think otherwise.

I’ve never been to Legacy Arena
Unfortunately I saw Alabama drop that shitshow to Davidson there about a year ago, and went most recently when the Pelicans played in town.
It's actually much nicer than you might think, and will make you yearn even more for a new arena.
One word of advice — figure out ahead of time where you'll park. There is usually some good street parking to be found near 18th Street and 9th Avenue, but that whole area on and around Abraham Woods will be gridlocked coming in if you wait too close to tip. (You can avoid it altogether by parking near Linn Park and taking a short walk up 19th.)

Fardaws Aimaq IS eligible to play this season, a source told @Stockrisers. Yes, he can transfer and play right away, this season… Major news for whatever program lands him. Getting an All-American caliber big man in Aimaq.
We have a spot, don't we?

Not saying to get rid of JQ at all, I think we have an open spot if i'm remembering correctly.

It wasn't directed at you!
I just replied to your post that's all.

Keep working JQ!!
There's a couple more who gets blown by a lot but when a person is playing bad certain things get magnified to pick at.
He's coming though.

He’ll be fine, he’s just not a good perimeter defender. He brings 100% effort all the time though. We’re fortunate to have him

Hell, the Mitchell Center at South Alabama will make you yearn for a new arena.

Does anyone know of a good area to watch the game?
ESPN restaurant on Disney’s Boardwalk. Food’s pretty decent although everything is expensive of course.

SQ UPSET!
Memphis lost by 3 points against Alabama. But based on the shots taken, the Tigers were expected to win by 9.
They created a ton of good looks against a top-10 defense around the rim in the Crimson Tide.
Unlucky!

That said, I’m glad Q came back. Hope he gets opportunities in games where his defense isn’t risking a loss to showcase his offense enough to go overseas.

I'm pretty sure the biggest complaints about Herb was that he missed too many layups and turned the ball over too much.

Looking at the AAC Memphis only loseable games is Houston and maybe UCF. Both wins should end up Q1
