Alabama walk-on freshman basketball player Kai Spears was in Brandon Miller’s car when it was struck by gunfire the night of Jamea Harris’ murder, the New York Times reported Wednesday evening.

It won’t be written as such, but this lends even more credence to Miller’s version of the story that he was literally going to pickup Miles and nothing else. I’m sure it’ll be written by media though that he went and picked up the walkon who was already carrying 4 guns and went on a killing spree.

Jay Wright seems so much like the Chris Peterson of basketball. Or Chris Peterson is Jay Wright of football.

Either way, the guys strike me as very similar

I was told if Brandon Miller was a walk on he would be kicked off the team. As far As I know Kai Spears is still on the team

Alabama athletics has since issued the following statement to the New York Times: “Your story is inaccurate. Based on the information we have, there were no current student-athletes present at the scene other than Brandon Miller and Jaden Bradley, who are both fully cooperating witnesses. From the outset, UA Athletics has fully cooperated with law enforcement and supported their investigation.”

National media all tweeted about the initial story but I’ve yet to see one of them post Alabama’s statement.

If Miller was a walk-on, no one would be pushing for him to be unjustly punished.

The NYT's anonymous source "close to the situation" is probably Joseph Goodman.

Why are any of you surprised? The media LIES about anything and everything for clicks and to push whatever narrative/agenda they decide to pursue. They do not care about facts.

We better be fricking right about this. Like 100% positive before making a statement like this

That was my first thought. No way we put that out without being 100%, right? Right?

I gotta be honest our whole PR team should be fired. How they didn’t grab Oats the moments he walked off that practice court the day the reports about Brandon came out is baffling

We’d have to be. We didn’t cover up 5 star recruits being then we damn sure aren’t gonna cover up a walk on being there if he was.

And not to stereotype but Looking at a picture of Kai I find it hard to believe he is hanging out with Miller, Bradley, and Miles

But we didn’t disclose that Miller was there. I don’t think we were obligated to. I don’t think we were obligated to disclose that this walk on was there even if he was

But now we’ve put out a statement giving our word that this article isn’t true. If we are wrong, we look more incompetent than before

Unfortunately that’s a one-way street. The media can make shite up without any repercussions, but one misstep from the school and the whole program needs to be shut down.
