I liked a lot of things about JQ and this isn’t me bashing him, but it is nice to have a guy running point who isn’t trying to show he’s the best dribbler of the basketball the world has ever seen.

unlike last year the PG does not dribble for 25 seconds then attack the rim regardless of how many bigs are there to swat. I really like the chemistry and the number of players who are scoring.
Also I think Waters is the Freshman that has impressed me the most.

My stance on JQ has been pretty set since his first year here. He could win you games you'd otherwise lose and lose you games you'd otherwise win. His biggest flaw was his unwillingness to be just a part of the offense once he touched the ball. He always wanted to do something with it, even when a quick swing was oftentimes the best choice. He was like Trae Young but wasn't close to the consistent offensive engine that Young has been at every level.
He wasn't a fun player for me to watch 90% of the time, but to his credit that 10% of the time, oftentimes when we needed him the most, it was an absolute pleasure to witness. He could make me go Jekyll and Hyde more than any other player I've watched play for us.

I really like Walters, and once he can figure out the defensive side of the ball, he's going to be a huge offensive weapon we can utilize more than we do.
Having said that, Stevenson has quite easily been the best overall freshman for us thus far. Much more skilled and fluid than I expected him to be. UNC has to already regret trying to keep him from reclassifying. No way he wouldn't have been a key piece for them this year.

Yep - it's clear why Stevenson was so highly regarded. He's incredibly fluid for a guy that big and is a legitimate shooter.

It's always been a bit baffling how these 5-star reclass guys automatically drop like 20 spots in their new class. I get that they're younger, but there are just so many examples of them looking more like their original class ranking than the latter. Hell, just in the last few years, Lewis and Primo were lottery level talents after their first year, and Stevenson is looking well on his way this year.

Still early, but it’s kind of interesting that we’re 87th in kenpom’s adjusted tempo stat. Feels like we’ve lived in the top 10 of that one for years. We’re being incredibly efficient though.
Stevenson has a very high offensive ceiling. I don’t know that he’ll have Clowney’s defensive impact, but he already looks farther along as an offensive player.
