Every program revival starts with one player and in 2017 having Collin Sexton, a 5-star point guard from Mableton, Ga., choose the Crimson Tide meant the times of @AlabamaMBB being dismissed by blue-chip players were about to end. Credit former Alabama head coach Avery Johnson with discovering Sexton early and riding that momentum to finish with a Top Ten recruiting class. In his one collegiate season, @CollinSexton_ averaged 19.2 points, 3.6 assists and became a Crimson Tide legend, keeping Alabama competitive in a bizarre 3-on-5 finish against Minnesota and his coast-to-coast, game-winning layup against Texas A&M in the 2018 SEC Tournament. Alabama returned to the NCAA Tournament for the first time in six years, and reached the round-of-32 before falling to eventual national champion Villanova. Sexton earned Co-SEC Freshman of the Year and AP All-SEC first-team honors. Following the postseason run, Sexton declared for the NBA Draft but still returned for Alabama’s postseason awards banquet to celebrate with teammates and fans. The Cleveland Cavaliers later selected him eighth overall. So Collin Sexton is here to remind you the 2023-24 basketball season tips off in two days.

While Collin Sexton provided the sizzle to the 2017 Top Ten recruiting class, Herbert Jones from nearby Moundville provided the substance for the next four years as @AlabamaMBB returned from the wilderness of irrelevance. Behind the 6-foot-7 versatile point forward, Alabama ascended to the top of the SEC in 2021, sweeping the regular-season and tournament titles and earning a No. 2 seed in the NCAA Tournament. In this current era of “blue-collar” basketball under Nate Oats, no one embraced that philosophy more than @_hoopinglife whose willingness to defend an opponent’s best player, fight through screens, battle for a rebound, dive for a loose ball, stand firm for a charge or literally play one-handed (see the LSU game in 2020) forever endeared him to the Alabama nation. His perseverance led to being named the 2021 SEC Player of the Year and SEC Defensive Player of the Year. After being drafted in the second round of the 2021 NBA Draft, Jones just signed a 4-year, $53 million contract extension with the New Orleans Pelicans. So Herbert Jones is here to remind you the 2023-24 basketball season tips off in one day.

Morehead St. will probably finish top 3 in their conference.

They have guards who can play in Thelwell & Freeman but I think Freeman is out right now.

Quick guards and wings who can shoot three's.

They usually shoot the three and push the pace a little.

I did too. She seems to meet personally with all their top recruits.

Tomorrow can’t get here fast enough…been a long offseason!

Hornets play again today, but their 1 point win yesterday against Pacers was one of the weirdest statistical anomalies I’ve seen in a long time.

Miller played 34 minutes with +17 +/- and Lamelo played 31 minutes with -15. That means in the 14 minutes that Brandon sat, Lamelo and the hornets went -15 while going +17 in the 17 minutes that Lamelo wasn’t on the court (this assumes it was +0 for shared time on the court, otherwise the run would have to be even greater while one was sitting). A 32 point +\- differential for 2 players that played over 30 minutes of the game seems extremely rare.
