One of the most underrated and overlooked great @AlabamaMBB teams has to be the 1990 squad under @wimpsanderson1. Vastly under seeded at No. 7 in the NCAA Tournament and forced to go to California for the West Region, Alabama handled Colorado State 71-54 before steamrolling No. 2-seed Arizona 77-55. In the Sweet Sixteen, Alabama faced a Loyola Marymount team on an emotional mission due to the tragic death of Hank Gathers. The Tide held Loyola, fresh off 149 points against Michigan, in check and led by 6 late in second half, before the Lions rallied for a narrow 62-60 victory. Alabama finished 26-9 and had huge regular-season wins against North Carolina, Clemson (ACC champion), LSU (Shaquille O’Neal, Stanley Roberts, Chris Jackson) and Kentucky. To this day, I firmly believe if this team had been placed in any other region than the West, it reaches the Final Four. The starting lineup included Robert Horry, Melvin Cheatum, David Benoit, Gary Waites and James Sanders. So the 1990 No. 7-seeded and best Alabama team you may have forgotten is here to remind you the 2023-24 basketball season tips off in seven days.

I have to wonder how much "defense" any team actually plays in these scrimmages and exhibitions.
I mean sure, it would be nice to see a well-rounded performance and guys diving for loose balls in October, but I think the jury is probably still out on our actual capabilities, à la the 30-point pre-season loss a year ago.

Vanderbilt basketball has some sort of voodoo curse on Alabama. It doesn't matter how good or bad the teams are, it's usually a craps shoot.

Says the Arkansas fan. Us Alabama fans are surprised that Oats has 5. Vandy has been a pain in our arse in basketball for my entire life. We went like 15 years without winning in Nashville at one point.
