Most of us expect at least some sort of dropoff defensively,
From 2018 till now has been a drop off defensively. 2017 def only allowed like 163pts or something close to it, that was the last great defense Bama had.
I know the game has changed and the rules and the enthusiasm is geared toward offense now, but I love a nasty, brutal, hard hitting defense with a bunch of mean arse motherfrickers that strike fear in a offense and especially a QB. I miss that kind of Bama Def. I hope Kane can regenerate that again or work towards it

People keep saying we’re loaded on the DL and pass rusher but I haven’t heard much from the group during scrimmages. I’m a bit more hesitant to hype this group up with Roach coaching.

I know he won the Groza but I also know that he never kicked for the University of Alabama.
There's a different level of pressure being the kicker at Alabama.
I think we all can agree on that.

There may be a little more pressure on him sure, but he’s also got better facilities, coaches, and more to gain here at Bama.
If he was the worker he was at Ohio to be the best, then there’s no chance he came to Bama to be a lazy bum. He likely wins us a game or two. He will be HUGE if he can hit 45+ yarders with this offense who will move the ball a lot.

I think it's safe to assume a Groza award winner will be pretty good.

I’m not worried. If he won the Groza, he must be good.

Apparently the rant hates you for posting notes from Bama scrimmages.
I guess no one on this site is safe.

I’m never on the rant. So I have no idea. I avoid the poo slingers.

The UGA guy that lurks on this board says we're all sunshine pumpers because we're excited about what we're hearing from camp. He seemed genuinely upset about it.
I didn't get that at all from Boz's scrimmage summary. I guess any chance to flame is taken over there.
Rant

The real sunshine pumpers are the ones who expect Alabama to fall apart over night. LSU coasted off what Saban started for nearly a decade before the wheels fell off on Les Miles. And I believe what he created in Tuscaloosa is far more durable but that may be my crimson-tinted bias.

AHM is a Georgia fan? Also LOL at Sunshine Pumpers, this board is filled with NegaTiders (not that is a bad thing, per se. I personally like boards with different viewpoints than ones with overally negative/positive views). I suggest AHM to look at the gamethreads last year

It just sounds like something I'd get from BOL or Bama247. Don't see how Boz is lying or engagement farming if he's saying what the major insider sites are saying. I know a few guys who are close to the program and they say the same things most of the time. Boz is a good dude, in Boz we trust

Holy shite, he is unhinged. He was always bad but now it’s worse.
I have no idea why he dislikes me so much, he was unanimously banned by all three admins.
I mean I talked about the questions on defense I definitely have questions about the team but nothing was super glaring.

Can we get an in-depth post about the defense overall?

If Finebaum had a message board it would be the rant.
They either don’t know football or don’t care and just want to troll and emote.

Yep.
No elite defense can shutdown an elite offense now because the rules are so slanted in their favor.
I mean outside of UGA is there a defense you ever fear playing now?

Penalty on the defense, 15 yards. Player is ejected for targeting.

I thought boundary corner was THE question mark
I think they love the two freshmen and think the transfer can hold things down if they need time.
We will have busts, probably more than we’re going to be accustomed to but I think there is a lot of talent back there to work with, just need it to gel and in some cases mature.
I also think the defense will be easier to call from a scheme and execution standpoint so the learning curve is lower.

DeBoer just said that Roberts will be able to play week one.
Outstanding news, he absolutely changed the physicality of the OL when he went in for Dalcourt.
I think he has AA upside with the right coaching and effort.
