“Losing my father at a young age was really hard on me as well as my family,” Zane said. “He taught me everything I know about baseball and believed in me more than anybody. I still carry this experience to this day because it taught me to never take anything for granted. Baseball became my escape from anything negative in my life as well as a way of honoring my dad’s memory. My dad was a huge inspiration to me because of how much time he invested in our baseball careers. He traveled across the country as a pilot, but any time he was home he would take us to the field or cages every day. His passing only inspired me more because it gave me that extra motivation of dedicating my work and success to him.”

Diodati, Seidl and Williamson Selected to CoSIDA Academic All-District 4 Baseball Team
Alabama's Owen Diodati, Tommy Seidl and Drew Williamson were selected to the CoSIDA Academic All-District 4 First Team for baseball, the organization announced Thursday.
The CoSIDA Academic All-America program recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined academic and athletic performances. As first-team selections, the Tide trio advances to the CoSIDA Academic All-America ballot. Academic All-America honorees for a first, second and third team will be announced in June.
The threesome are part of 19 Crimson Tide baseball players to earn all-district recognition and gives UA at least one all-district honoree in each of the last three seasons (Chase Lee in 2021 and Kolby Robinson in 2020). Prior to Robinson's selection in 2020, Alabama had not had an Academic All-District Team member since 2011.
In all, Alabama has had nine players earn Academic All-America honors since 1972, including first-team honorees Dr. Jeff Laubenthal (1993), Lance Cormier (2002) and Emeel Salem (2006, 2007).
