Defense looked good and yes it was WKU but:

Sideline to sideline speed was great last night. Shut down everything to the outside. Open field tackles and wrapping players up was very good. Seemed to limit YAC as well. We got a push into the pocket it seemed most of the night which contributed to PBU and that was with a 3 man rush at times.

Still need to be tested against a stronger OL but definitely liked what I saw last night.

Never did see a green sticker on Lawson's helmet so the other ILB must be calling the D.

Several missed tackles let them get first downs.

Good to see so many get to play.

Wouldn't be surprised if one of the safeties that stays near the LOS sets the defense.

He had the green sticker on at the beginning of the game. Is Devonta Smith still hurt saw him dressed but didn't notice him playing. Last two years people been saying how good he is.

The defense will be top 5-10 if not higher when it's all said and done.

The defensive front was pretty darn good.

Couple of people who impressed on the defensive line:
James Smith
LT Overton
Buck Robinson
Qua Russaw

Thoughts on Linebackers:
All of them were impressive. The starting two (Lawson & Campbell) of course but Justin Jefferson (#15) has a different gear...he missed half of the tackles because he doesn't throttle down and he didn't do a good job of wrapping up but the potential he has is crazy.

Thoughts on the Secondary:

I was impressed with a lot of guys...

Jackson
Brown
Morgan
Smith
Moore
Saab
Hubbard (Keep sleeping on him)
Mbakwe
Mincey
Mack

I can't wait to continue watching the growth of this defense. I really believe they will be one of the best in college football.

Smith was a starter!
He played extremely well yesterday.

Tight coverage all game and he was physical in the run game.

Smith played a lot last night. He’s healthy.

Also we had 86 play per the participation chart. Last couple of years during blowouts we would have around 68 play. Keep the DB's fresh will only help with PT and game experience when we see a team like mizz and UT whose QB's looked good this week 1. I am glad we are not playing OM this year

I don’t think so; I think Jordan Renaud was the third guy at Bandit. Renaud looks pretty athletic and powerful when he gets out there on the field. I was also very impressed with Overton. Latham imo does not do a whole lot when he gets snaps and does not flash much upside. Would not hate seeing Overton (and maybe even Renaud) get more of latham’s snaps. I don’t see Keeley playing much this year.

ETA I was wrong, Keeley came in with 9 min left in the game.

Latham needs to get lots of reps. The reps may help him improve his skills in getting to the pocket on pass downs. He is the best run stopper of that group and we will need that at Wisc and when UGA comes to town.
