I think Hurts is poised for a big season. I love our WR's and TE's...we just need to find a RT to protect well and Hurts may break some records this year. Tua will get his chance, but he's gonna have to wait his turn.

As far as Tua goes, no he didn't look great with the 1s.
Yet, you still expect him to surpass our current starter who went to a National Championship last season
Obviously, we should all be excited to see him in Crimson, but maybe hold off on the world-beater expectations until you, oh i dunno, see him actually "look great with the 1s"?

the only thing that matters to me in QB play is how effective is he throwing the ball

And the only teams that will be worth a damn are the teams with QBs that have deadly arms like Deshaun Watson. I think a QB that can run is great, but it really doesn't mean much unless he can throw really well

Nobody said having a quarterback that can run was a bad thing. Only that one that can't also pass is a bad thing. We almost won it all last year on the backs of the goat defense not because of a freshman quarterback that could run the ball. Those are just the facts. His performance against good defenses was horrible and you know I can post the stats to prove it. We expect better and we are gonna get it or someone else will step up. We almost won it last year with a freshman who couldn't complete passes so I think we may could do it again behind a freshman who can complete passes.
This is like starting a running back that isn't good at running the ball. He may have composure and he may be the best pass catcher and pick up the blitz better than an OL but if he can't run the ball you should replace him with someone who can especially if his backup is a can't miss five star phenom. If a quarterback can't get the ball to elite wide receivers then he isn't much of a quarterback. We don't run the damn wing T man.

Jalen Hurts is one dimensional until he proves otherwise.

Bro, he was a true freshman. Until you can prove Tua is the better passer this year, I have no idea why you'd be down on Hurts.
If you want to blame someone for the QB not being good enough to help the GOAT defense win a championship, blame Saban for not having someone who can pass the ball.
Hurts' running ability was at least part of the reason why Alabama had a chance to win a championship last season.

Actually his passing ability is the reason we didn't win the championship. We have a loaded backfield capable of running the ball, we need our quarterback to get the ball to the best corp of receivers in America. You know, the guys who turned into glorified blockers the last few games of 2016.

Yet our coaches abandoned the run almost the entire 2nd half, when we were gashing them...

Pissed me off. They including Saban really made a bad decision by sometimes forcing a passing game that wasn't working. They also missed out recruiting quarterbacks in 2013 and 2014 leaving us with a true freshman as our best option. It is what it is though. I am anxious to see if Jalen can stretch the field this year.
