Thinking the unthinkable...next year and beyond.

Assuming we win out, that puts the streak at 27.
We will play FSU to open 2017. That win would tie for the all-time Alabama win streak at 28. If we beat FSU, we break the record easily with 29 vs. Fresno State.
Colorado St. and Vandy should get us to 31. Next comes Ole MIss at home, which should be 32.
The next big test could then come at aTm. Win that and the streak is at 33. Home games against Arkansas and Tennessee should get us to 35. The next real challenge comes at home vs. LSU. Win that and we're at 36.
Miss. State and Mercer should be 37 and 38. The game at Auburn would be for #39.
Obviously the SECCG and CFP would be treacherous waters. If we can accomplish what some would be unthinkable at this point and win out again, that would put the streak at 42.
The off season hype about breaking Bud Wilkinson's record of 47 will be non-stop and almost unbearable.
After that, the most serious threat to the streak will be the 2018 opener with Louisville, if Lamar Jackson returns for his senior year. Regardless, with an entire off season to prepare and a veteran QB, chances would be good for #43.
After that, two OOC cupcakes get us through 45. In some order, we then would have Ole Miss away and Missouri at home. Obviously Ole Miss on the road, especially if that's the one for #47, would be a high pressure road environment.
If we get that far, #48 would be a home game against aTm. Hype around that game would be like nothing we've ever seen There will be enough clutter to make Saban's head explode.
It may be unthinkable at this point, but heck, I see enough threads started on the rant about plenty of other things that are unthinkable, so why the heck not. Sure, it could all come crashing down at any time. But do we think we can win out this year? Heck yes. If we do, the streak will get up into the thirties. Then a lot more people are going to start talking about it.

Saban would choke you if he caught you looking that far ahead

The game on Dec 31 is the one we need to worry about. Then the one 10 days later. Those won't be pushovers. Then FSU is not a cupcake either. You're chasing a pipe dream at this point.

The one "we" need to worry about? I'm sure your aware that what you and I as fans worry about will have zero effect on those games, right?

Of course, but I've always referred to Bama as "my" team and "we" have to be on guard against looking ahead and complacency. It's not an uncommon thing as most posters on here do the same.

Yeah, but the notion that this team might actually be looking to next year and beyond is pretty juvenile, so that's why I treated him as such. Of course these next two games are huge challenges. I'm just taking looking at a record that's among those that many people say will never be broken from a sports fan's perspective and speculating about the possibility.

How many in a row would it be if Bama won every game until the end of time?
