Football on the West Coast is entertainment while it is life or death in the SEC. There is doubt Kalen is suited for the SEC.

Saturday he is on the stage, and he better be able to sing.

He needs to be told to take his money and his NIL deals and shove them up his selfish arse.

ETA: Appears “Yea Alabama” (aka the collective) is just one of $4s deals.

This Saturday could be very embarrassing for Milroe, Kalen, Byrne, and the Bama fans. If Milroe plays like he does 50% of the time and Bama is getting beat, then the fans are going after him and Kalen. Losing to AU at home would be a complete clusterfeck and Bryne will feel the heat as well.

Who is really running this program as of today?

While I tend to agree with the sentiment of this post, I still dont think DeBoer or Byrne would shoulder the majority of the blame in your scenario.
I think people have committed to believing this season is a wash.
DeBoer got saddled with a tough assignment this season. Sure Larry Coker won a title in his first season at the U, but BAMA ain't 2000s Miami. Neither is college football the same.

Last season, Saban prepared for barn by beating Chattanooga. DeBoer had to go to Normon and play a fricking desperate Sooner squad. I'm not blaming scheduling or anything like that, but let's compare apples to oranges. Chattanooga ain't Oklahoma.

My point is that even DeBoer's schedule is different than what Saban ever had to endure.

OK, I'll ask the question again, who's out there who's better and can lead in an era where players make $10 million?

First, I’m not speaking to whether or not CKD should be let go (although I have a partially-formed opinion about it- we’d owe him too much money, so we’re stuck with him).

I’m only telling you what is going to happen based on who CKD is and what his abilities are and what we know about him that we’ve learned in the short time he’s been here.

He won’t be here more than 3 seasons.

We all have opinions on who will/should/could do the job better. I know who I would have hired. But, that’s not important and I don’t make those decisions and I don’t have the networking to know all of the options and details about every coach and/or candidate. We pay someone a pretty big amount of money to do that, too.

I also don’t buy the bullshite that discipline has to be thrown out the window because muh NIL and muh transfer portal.

We saw a 20-year-old little shite kick a football out of a ref’s hands, and throw a tantrum on the field and scream at the coaches who were trying to get him off the field and tell them what to do.

With zero consequence or accountability. He should have been suspended for at least a half and whatever other punishment during practice.

That just can’t happen. I don’t buy it that he would have taken his ball and gone home and hit the portal because he had to face consequences for his choices for a week. I just don’t.

I also don’t think Saban left because he couldn’t do it, anymore, or that “his schtick” just won’t work anymore. I think he was just too old and tired to deal with it, anymore- especially the coaching turnover.

But, back to the point, Deboer’s not going to make it, here. He’s weak. His players know it. You can’t regain control without extreme changes and he hasn’t shown he has the willingness or strength to make those changes- he doesn’t even have the fortitude to make the small demands.

Rankings isn't talent.

Bama got the benefit higher rankings because Nick Saban signed them, and it has been proven so over the years when so many left, yet they couldn't play at lesser schools.

I want to see DeBoer has some balls.

So far, I've seen a pussy accepting hundreds of thousands of dollars a month in his direct deposit account.

Man the frick up Kalen!

You have to be concerned at this point about the HC. He is closer to Mike Shula than even Bill Curry.

I actually gave you a like and I absolutely agree with you that there must be discipline in this sport.

My point is that when the players are essentially equal partners now … and that isn’t changing … achieving it will require a different approach than the old-school stuff people here are demanding.

And I just replied to someone in another thread who was screaming that we ought to just tell people to take their NIL and hit the road, I will be right there with folks advocating that if they will commit to me that they won’t have an absolute cow and want to send people to the guillotine if we have to have a couple of 6-6 seasons to weed the rot out if that’s needed for the greater good of the program.

Totally agree with BamaTide07. We should have taken our lumps last year with Simpson. I never liked Saban caving to the LANK groupies!!

I have said countless times here that star rankings are designed to get clicks and money from people like the posters here, and do not tell you what is in a recruit’s brain, heart, guts and gonads.

10-2 is going to be the great years moving forward in the SEC.

I’m giving him a pass this year because it’s getting painfully obvious that he walked into a toxic situation and had to make a devil’s bargain with that toxicity back in January to field a team.

That pass ends with our final snap this year. I’m poking at some people offering simplistic solutions who appear to be living in a cave and are ignoring the realities of this sport right now. But I am not pleased with what I have seen so far,

I’m sure we’re united on this … RTR and beat the Barn.

1. I agree with you here, If the coaches/AD do what ought to be done, there *will* be a price to be paid, at least in the short term, in the win-loss column. All the "but we're paying you a ton so figure it out" in the world won't magically make the impossible possible, and you can't expect to go 10-2 or 11-1 when you've just sent a bunch of players packing.

2. That said: not that I matter even a little bit (I'm less than a fraction of a drop in the ocean), but I'm on board. I would willingly accept a pair of 6-6 seasons to get rid of the rot.

OMG the damnedest thing just occurred to me … would it be the worst-case scenario, even if it means a win over the Barn, for Milroe to be in his manic phase rather than his depressive phase as a QB and have another LSU-game performance on Saturday?
