RescueT — Who do you think would have been a better pick for Saban’s successor? Genuinely curious.

He wanted Sark. Even posted about 30 times that Sark was going to be the guy. I guess he’s salty that he was wrong.

Now this guy coaches circles around Sark but in terms of talent acquisition there’s obviously some questions to be answered.

Honestly the only hire that would have been zero drop off and is ruthless was Kirby. I understand it would never happen. Outside of that I’m not sure. I just know there’s zero coaches coming in here and continuing this at the pace we’ve seen. He may do average but drop off is coming. That’s realistic. Maybe we wait another 25 years and the next one comes. Maybe I’m just expecting horrible outcomes and if it’s better than that I’m good.

I wanted Sark as well, but from what it sounds like DeBoer has genuine interest in Saban counseling him.

I think this is looking very close to being a live grooming. DeBoer will be coaching normally and probably learning a bit about SEC/big program life but Saban will be there if he needs any guidance

I also like that he’s player oriented. I would love to keep a good slew of our player personal development stuff in place and he seems very receptive to that type of coaching

Now we wait and see how many hit the portal.

I am afraid it will be several and really good players. JMO but these guys are at the U of A because of Nick and dollars.

Go watch Kirby’s first presser. Dude was shaking like a leaf, stuttered and almost cried talking about his wife. His entire speech was written and rehearsed yet he still could barely speak. DeBoer spoke way more from the heart.

Think a little before you speak opinions.

It’s all irrelevant. DeBoer has to prove it. His press conference will look much better with hindsight if wins championships.

I wanted Lane. Not DeBoer. None of what I wanted matters. DeBoer is our guy.

We will all see together. I hope you come back and say I TOLD YOU SO. Promise you I want us to be great as bad as you do. Kirby and Sark is who I wanted. Unrealistic and Lane I’m sure but oh well.

I did not want DeBoer, but I will say that I’m excited and encouraged. I trust Greg Byrne completely. He is the best Athletics Director in America.

He’s just a naysayer troll who knows better than Greg Byrne and Saban (who I believe had a role in picking DeBoer). Pay him no mind.

No doubt the guy can coach. How fast can he get up to speed with the high school coaches and recruiting pool? I believe Nick's complete focus is on that today in addition to trying to keep the roster intact.

Wait so he’s upset we didn’t hire the guy that the current dude beat with less talent back to back years?

Well he is from The Sip so he has that going for him.

Last time I was in Jackson Miss State beat us 6-3 in a complete clusterfeck.

Long drive back to Montgomery.

Kalen DeBoer on how his staff is coming along: "Certainly have a strong feeling of what I'd like to do. … There will be a touch of Washington in there, but I understand there needs to be some SEC ties, some southeast ties that can help bridge the gap."

My grandfather took me to the game. I was 10 months old.

Being from Jackson and having lived in Prattville it's not a fun drive regardless of the circumstances of the visit.

Same group made that trip to see Bama open with Ole Miss and Steve Sloan. John Fourcade was the QB and had that fuker signed with Coach Bryant then Bama wins the NC in 1980.

I told people Greg Byrne moved differently...people thought I was lying.

He has a pattern when hiring...go back and read about him hiring Nate Oats lol.

All these goofy's was second fiddle to DeBoer!

The Goat Orchestrated the whole dam thing.
