Do you not understand that we would have to write DeBoer a check for $60 million if we fired him right now?

Yeah, I completely understand that. I know we’re not going to fire him until after year 3.

But, I’m pissed we have to wallow in mediocrity for that long because Byrne couldn’t be bothered to extend his coaching search beyond 5 minutes. It was lazy.

But, who knows. Maybe he’ll turn it around and I’ll see what some of you seem to see. I’m just not holding my breath waiting on it.

I promise I will be happy to be proven wrong.

I want to see his offense with a competent QB that doesn’t have his own agenda running it before I make a judgment on the man. That’s my whole viewpoint.

I don’t like what went down this year, none of us knows for sure what the “real story” is, but it’s over with and can’t be changed.

I am hoping DeBoer learns from the experience. I am hoping Byrne has a serious and detailed performance review with him to reinforce the lessons.

But it’s like a Bama fan friend and I were discussing off the board a while ago, the offshoot of what happened in 2024 is that he’s lost any margin of error.

And I have repeatedly said that the biggest lesson he’d better learn from this season is that there are no gimmes in the SEC and he and his staff must have this team ready to do business in every conference game, home and road, regardless of the opponent, period.

Absolutely. I agree with almost all of that. We’re hoping for the best, despite what we’ve seen, already. That’s all we can do. We’re not firing the guy after one season. The buyout is just too big. He’s here for 2 more years.

I hope he can turn it around. I think we all do- after all, what else can we do besides hope? We shall see.

If he doesn’t, however, then I hope Byrne isn’t the one sitting in the chair the next time around.

The only part where I disagree is that I do think his refusal to make needed and potentially unpopular and difficult decisions in the best interest of the team is a valid and legitimate judgement that can be made right this second.

Maybe, he will make some necessary changes with his staff going forward. That will be a good sign.

Nothing will make me happier than for him to turn it around and become the new GOAT- even surpassing Saban.

I’m not rooting for his failure or demise. If he succeeds, that means Alabama is succeeding. I’m just being honest about what I see, right now.

I will tell you this: If we have another Norman, Oklahoma, situation, I’m done. Not a loss, mind you. I despise losing but I can deal with a loss if someone beats us in a fair fight, I mean going into a game with such an abject lack of preparation to do business.

People harp on the Vandy loss because it was so embarrassing to lose to them. I hated that but I pretty much got over it because IMO that was just “one of those nights” that you get every 20 years or so where s**t happens.

Because of what was at stake, and because the lack of preparation was so evident, Oklahoma to me was countless times worse. It was inexcusable and cannot happen again, period, mic drop.

Let them leave.

Seriously, if the entire offensive starting lineup was gone minus Miller and Williams I wouldn’t bat an eye.

I like #5 too

Taking the appeasement route is going to get Bama nowhere.

Kalen telling us how much MBakwe loved Bama, yet the kid was headed out of town. F that.

He won his conference at Florida Atlantic twice and posted their only 10-win seasons in their entire history twice in 3 years. They hadn’t been above .500 in over a decade before him. He’s about to have his 3rd 10-win season (including 1 11-win season) at perennially-mediocre bottom-dweller Ole fricking Miss. Provided he beats Duke in the bowl game, that will be 5 10-win seasons in the last 8 years….. at mediocre programs like Florida Atlantic and Ole Miss.

Wait, you’re seriously comparing Kiffin’s coaching prowess at FAU like it means anything?

If we are comparing Kiffin to DeBoer based upon resumes, it isn’t a fricking comparison. In fact it’s a laughable comparison.

And who give a frick how many 10 win seasons has had. How many big games has he won???? Up until Georgia of this year, the number would be ZERO.

Can you imagine the melts on this board of Kiffin losing to awbarn after going to it in 4th and 9 from his own 40? Because that’s what you get with Kiffin.
