That's an understatement. Grubb has overloaded Keelon most of the season. Doesn't give him any easy entry into games and against a team like Tennessee with a really good defense makes him play right into their strengths. He did the same thing against Georgia. It's like he hates the concept of identifying a weakness and hammering that until they adjust and then hammer what they expose from the adjustments.

It's no wonder Grubb was such a failure in the NFL. You build a core offensive concept, identify mismatches and do everything you can do to expose them. He neither has a consistent offensive philosophy or identifies mismatches (like Georgia did with Lee) and leaning your gameplan that way. Right now college is more like the NFL than ever.

Nearly every important play Film Guy (or ones the other video guy posted here) analyzes shows Gilliam immediately running around or pushing Waldrep or Carroll straight back on their arse.

I knew it was bad but didn't realize watching live just how unable we were to block that guy for even a full second on big plays.

Now imagine if Xavier was injured and how massively that would have impacted that game.

Our "Xavier" Terrence Green got injured and we went from giving up less than 50 yards to 150 the next half. These injuries to key players matter.

However that entire offense was a botch. On that 4th and 1, #40 didn't even think forget the double down, take the man in front so #81 could kick out the slanting DB... then #81 instead of continuing to kickout the DL aims for the DB as if momentum of the RB would be stopped by a wide DB.

Just a bunch of horrible play. From the OL to WR drops and not even blocking, to TEs missing blocks and assignments to the QB not making the most or missing

Yeah, watching these video breakdowns certainly emphasizes how significant the injury to Delgatty was.

But, yeah, the rest of the offense certainly took individual turns blowing up plays on their own when #2 was off the field or the few times he was actually blocked for a second.

I really enjoy this guy’s work. He gives a great breakdown. Tennessee’s defense played lights out. Congratulations to them. Man, our offensive line got literally abused this game.

And that's hard to scheme around, but I can tell you that the last thing you want to do if you are struggling up front is dial up long developing pass plays.

I think what's equally as frustrating about that is it's not just a vertical route. We aren't going to put Meadows or Morgan or Pritchett out wide and run a go ball that we can give them a 50/50 on, even if the situation calls for it. That doesn't take a lot of time to develop. The QB can get to the back of his drop and let it fly. We want to run deep overs and out and ups that require time, and require another guy doing his job right to clear the space to get that open. On the tight end screen we threw on 3rd and 19 or 3rd and 21, whatever it was, I'd much rather see us throw a ball 40 yards down field. If it gets intercepted, who cares, you were about to punt it down there anyway. But a pass interference is worth a first down. Make a corner play the ball in the air against a 6'5" receiver. Every time Florida state got outmatched against Alabama or Miami, they just dropped back and threw it up to their big guy. We don't do that, and sometimes the situation absolutely calls for it.

The thing is, we had tape on Tennessee's front. It was evident that they were good. You can trust your guys and maybe Grubb didn't expect them to get dominated, but if you didn't plan for that as a possible outcome then it's a failure on your part as an OC to do your due diligence and be prepared to pivot if the situation calls for it. We kept doing the same thing over and over, on both sides of the ball.

Go back and watch our first half possessions in 21-0. We knew we were playing an elite, aggressive defense. So we schemed them to death in the short passing game early and that opened up the intermediate game and eventually the running game late. Our identity all year had been run the football, work the intermediate passing game with Norwood and Hanks, and take big shots to Kenny Bell down the field. We came into that game and ran spider 2 Y banana to Brad Smelley until LSU proved they could stop it. That's just adjusting to your opponent and having a plan of attack based on what should work best. That's the disconnect with Grubb and Deboer. "What we do best" is not always the same as "What will work best today." The stubborn bastard just will not change his approach

I went ahead and watched it. He basically sounded baffled at our play and our coaching. Tenn must have prepared for 2 weeks or they had some access to our headsets because they almost knew what we were going to do, almost a little too confidently. Or Grubb is just so easy to figure out, its insane. As for Wommack, I have no idea. We looked like we just gave up and got our vaginas handed to us................The thing that makes me the maddest in this is when I see players playing their guts out and the coaches putting them in losing situations.

It’s crazy because on one play to Pritchett, a play i don’t remember us running to him before, the guy covering him called out the play as soon as the formation was set and summarily made the tackle with no gain.
I can understand if we had a lot of trends to run a play like that but I don’t feel like we do. Strange shite

I’m so glad that I talked myself out of watching the second half. I knew what was coming. I’m also glad that we have already played UK.

Its so easy to see that Deboer teams lack mental toughness as a whole. We might have 1 or 2 players or coaches that are dogs, but when they start to melt toward "giving up" in a big game, its a dramatic slide to the abyss. Where is the fight? That mostly is from one source, the last of toughness from the coaches. The coaches can talk all they want, but the results on the field does all the talking. Worse than that, even if the players are playing hard, I have doubts that coaches are putting them in a winning position.

Deboer is a great coach for the old PAC 12, or MWC or the Sun Belt. He is not an SEC level coach. He’s no where near mentally tough enough.

Delgatty would’ve improved communication perhaps but if you think he was gonna be able to hold up any better at the POA than Waldrep let me assure you he would’ve been on skates out there against their DL.

If Mike Carroll can’t handle someone Delgatty has zero chance.

I’m not rewatching that game. It can only be described as a systemic failure from the gameplan to the execution. At no point did we look like we deserved to win or we’re going to.

I’ve now recalibrated my expectations for the team moving forward this year but I’m not rewatching it like I didn’t ever rewatch the Vandy debacle.

This is moronic. We have no mental toughness but UGA needed 5 referee contributions plus us missing our DT to beat us.

We don't have depth. No one does. When your starter gets hurt now there is a significant drop in quality... it was never that way with Saban who had stacked rosters.

You guys go to some weird troupes and repetitive stuff that is just in your mind.

We didn't lose to rocky top because we lacked toughness. We lost because our OC is an idiot and our QB is stuck seeing the ghosts of Kirby from the week prior

You guys love to say it's different in the SEC then ignore playing at Neyland against a very tough defense is HARD. Which is why the OC is an idiot for trying to start by passing his way to victory

Fans grasping at straws bc of emotion/anger.

It’s Grubb’s atrocious offense. Period.

You don’t shutout Georgia in Athens in the 2nd half to win 24-20 of you are “weak and soft”.

You don’t go to Atlanta in the SEC if you are “weak and soft”.

Grubb is atrocious.

I can't think of a time I've seen Grubb call good plays or have his guys ready for a bull-speed rush. The QB is always in panic mode and the plays do almost nothing to help the QB or make the defense slow down. Besides the fact that most our plays develop about as slow as cold syrup.
