Grubb’s contract is up after this season.
I know people on here hate Wommack, but he’s allowed the 2nd fewest points, 3rd fewest yards, and forced the most turnovers in the SEC since 2024.
Fans want him fired bc he allowed 19.1 points to Georgia/UK/UT while forcing 7 turnovers, even with the offense allowing the opponent to start inside Bama’s 35 yd line 6 times in those three combined games.
The Special Teams are solid too.
IF DeBoer does parts ways with Grubb then I think he will be okay, and will win 10 games year in and year out.
He’s been to the Playoffs in 2 of the past 3 seasons, and got Bama to Atlanta/Playoffs/Playoff win in just year 2.
The roster has tremendous talent from the 1st and 2nd year players:
KR/Crowell/Brown/Edwards/Brooks/J Loyd/Carroll/Morgan/Gayles/Haven/J Edwards/ J Matthews// N Wilson/ Ivan Taylor/ X Griffin/ J Hill/ etc
CKD produced the Big10’s leading rusher at Indiana (pre-NIL) and he showed that be is willing to adapt under Sheridan (only 19 pass attempts and 14 designed QB runs per game).
IF he brings in a solid OC, combined with the young talent they have, then he will succeed here.
However, if he does bring Grubb back, then he is signing his own death warrant imo.

Let Grubb go, keep Wommack. Kane’s defense has been serviceable. But last game the lack of offense production really hurt the defense, they were on the field too long and the offense couldn’t do anything.
I do question the decision to go soft zone, prevent type defense with the DBs way off the WRs in the 4th when we were down 9. Should have been attacking and hard. But Kane has shown he can get the most from his players. Grubb is a lost cause.

They were trying to stop Bishop by getting extra hats in the box bc they knew Heupel would wear out a Front-6 with only 3 starters out of 6 left on the field at that point.
The cameras never show when they do go press-man when UT runs the ball.
Also the 2 throws to the TE on the flats that turned into 15 yard gains was vs m2m but Hubbard lost him once bc he motioned across the formation once, then it looked like they had Red Morgan on him the 2nd time and he got stuck in the traffic created by the “Naked” Playaction off of Counter-action by the OL causing a collision with Metz.
That’s why there was so much room to run after just a dump off in the flats. If it had been zone coverage their would’ve been a flat defender to that 1/2 of the field.
UT did hit a well thrown slant against tight man coverage on a 3td and 4 earlier.
Again, if a top15/top10 opponent gets a dozen possessions bc your offense cannot stay on the field, then scoring a TD twice in the same game will happen.
Bishop rushing for 300, or the Secondary giving up 3-4 bombs is what would’ve pissed me off.
If the coverage was so soft “the entire game” then why did UT have 19 points when 9 were handed to them by our offense after 11 possessions?
Why did Georgia have to throw so many balls into crazy tight windows that were even deflected multiple times vs Z Brown and still finish only convert 4 of their 7 total 3rd downs if the Secondary is playing so soft?
The past 2 seasons the pass defense and pass efficiency defense has been top5 in the nation, including #2 a year ago. Losing Z Brown and Led turning into a Pumpkin has not been ideal. We all THOUGHT that was the best position group on the team.
Missing your best run stoppers and #0/#1 needing a rest occasionally bc they are defending 12-13 possessions and 75 plays leads to guys like K Henry/ E Hill/ Faga/ Latham/ etc having to play FAR too many snaps especially the longer the game goes on (just like Georgia only had 49 yards rushing at halftime).
The offense puts a very thin defense right back on the field time and time again.

I’d like to see the all-22 film. I’m sure there is a lot left out of the broadcast feed.

Where did I say it was soft cover all game? I did not. It was in the 4th playing so far off did allow UT to create a long icing drive in smaller chunks.

Afraid Bama is headed back to pre-Saban days. Too hard-headed to admit they made a mistake and taking forever to correct it while the program slides backwards. The program had to hit rock bottom before they finally, with a humble heart, went to Saban with an open checkbook and begged him to save the program.

I think CKD can make it here.
Again, the guy has made the Playoffs (4-team playoff 3 years ago), in 2 of the past 3 seasons.
He has done extremely well with evals and roster retention (no one they have “lost” has turned out to be any good).
That is who I believe it all comes down to his handling of Grubb.
The defense is not 2016 good. We all know that. But if you look at Wommack’s numbers from
2024-present, only OU can rival them defensively.
IF Grubb is let go, and a solid OC who is the OPPOSITE of everything Grubb is:
- CAN sustain drives
- Can eat up TOP
- Cab flip the field on drives where they don’t score and put the D in good position
- No drive killing decisions like getting in Empty after Crowell/Brown are averaging 7ypc
- No gameplan that involves 4 vertices or routes that take 5 minutes to develop while only 5 stay in to protect the QB who inevitably has to run for his life and takes absurd Sack numbers
IF he does bring Grubb back, then “yes”, I’m afraid you are right.
CKD would have to be fired after next season if he chooses to bring him back and all those young guys will hit the Portal.
Get rid of Grubb and this program will be stable and consistently win 10

I apologize, I see that you never did make that statement.
I am so use to reading it this past week that I assume people mean it. That’s my fault.
Having 2 green CBs on the field and only 4 starters still in the game on the final 7 plays of that final drive were also a factor.
Bottomline, when a defense holds a top15/top10/#1 team in the nation to 20 points or less and forces turnovers, the offense HAS to do enough to win the game period.

I had a lot typed out but I decided to keep it simple......IMHO Deboer is going to be more loyal to his friends and hire people like him. They are going to be gimmicky and soft. I have no belief he has the back bone to bring in people with different or tougher perspectives to affect the culture of what he already has. In other words, what we see now is what he'll always be.............Personally I hope he does go down with Grubb and refuse to make a change so we can just make a clean break.

Side note: I thought the coverage of this game was atrocious. There were many instances where I wanted to see a replay and got nothing. And neither team was in hurry-up mode. Maybe it was me, but did anyone else notice that?

I have to think when DeBoer and the rest of the staff received extensions, there was a reason why Grubb didn't get one. My guess is his deal with DeBoer was he only wants to be here one year to get on his feet so he can get back out west. Which I'd buy it for him and his wife today.
But I agree with you, if he brings Grubb back he's basically making a decision he's getting fired.

ESPN’s live sports product is the worst in the industry. The same sort of cost-cutting we see in front of the cameras seems to be happening behind it.
They made the decision that quality was not important in live sports but instead just holding the rights to broadcast. They surmised that we’re dumb hogs and we will lap up whatever slop they throw in the trough.

A personal gripe of mine is when the announcers blather on about some personal interest story. while neglecting to state the upcoming down and distance.

Yep. Being a fan is an addiction of sorts, and they're just trying to make it even worse by shoving betting apps and "prediction markets" down our throats. They know people aren't going to stop watching just because they have shitty camera angles, too many commercials, and Joe Tessitore.

Saban's first season was 2007. BAMA won 10 games in 2005 with less than a full scholly allotment.

4 wins in 2003, 6 wins in 2004, 6 wins in 2006....Dubose also had a 10 year win in 1999 only to collapse the next year

Then why did he hire Klemm? Why not just hire a “buddy”? We can agree that should have been done the year before, but he has shown a willingness to make changes. Let’s see what happens with Grubb. If he comes back, then we have issues. Personally, I think Grubb moves on after the transfer window closes.

Most of those were due to sanctions.

They serve their content in the lowest bitrate they can possibly get away with and not have the masses complain. They know the dumb hogs have no taste. This is why people lap up AI slop.

Some people don’t understand that we were a “thing” before Saban.
If Mike Shula had done what his boss asked him to do Nick Saban would never have been the coach here.
