So we put things to a “team vote” now ala LSU?…awesome

We’ve had things like that for a long time. It was the Players Leadership Council, etc.

Thought they gave input to Saban and he made the final decision.

The LSWho? team vote thing was reportedly just that, final.

I’m not saying it’s happening at Bama, but it’s just a matter of time before a major points shaving scandal comes to light in college football or basketball. Kids with extra money want even more money.

I think everything came down to Saban but I’m sure he agreed with a good portion.

With that being said; which one of y’all going to call into “Hey, Coach” and give this speech.

“Hey Coach, this is LeRoy from Eufaula, Thanks for taking the time to speak. We all know you have a very tough job to keep the Alabama Standard and to do it your way.

There seems to be a lot of rumors about lack of effort and intensity from the players. Just know….Like the lyrics in “Yea, Alabama”….Every Bama man is behind you. Start cutting the naysayers. We’re ready to take Ls to right the ship. Let’s fricking goooo, hawsbsgwh.”

I saw the thread, read the first post and knew it would devolve into thinly veiled hate.

If Milroe of all people is intentionally tanking games, that is just supremely idiotic. In ~4 weeks, he has played a large part in demolishing this teams playoff/championship aspirations, effectively lost a Heisman, and has played himself into a round 3-5 draft pick at best.

To clarify, I don’t think he is tanking but I do think something is amiss.

Whether it’s injury or butt hurt over something. He has been low energy, hasn’t scrambled as much, and his preparation seems to be lacking.

Logically, it makes no sense to tank your stock but losing to Vandy can change your perception about the Heisman and year, I guess?

Defensively, I could definitely see some locker room animosity over this plausible (no where near confirmed) example…

Malachi Moore gets burnt in covering Eli Stowers (Vandy TE) on 4th down for a TD. At the end of the game, as a captain, melts down and calls everyone out. Moore calls out coaching staff over getting the calls in faster. Moore doesn’t prepare the way he should and is late, etc. he blames everyone but himself but he has the “C” already. Locker Room thinks wtf? Why is this guy a captain. DeBoer is over his head

These staffs know how to deal with transition. KDB , I am sure has had to deal with this at Fresno, at Washington, and now at Bama. He came in at a terrible time of year , following the GOAT coach, so yea they had to keep things together or risk having 40-;5 players on the roster . The people that sign with Bama now , want to be there and play for him. We don’t need meddling boosters, former players, etc acting like they know what is best for the team. Nobody and I mean nobody knows what goes on day to day or what’s best . Just let the man and Byrne do their damn jobs . If someone is a major problem , I feel confident they won’t be here next year .RTR ETA - that’s the kind of shite that runs coaches away

Here’s what you’re missing. No one is meddling. That hasn’t even begun yet. This has happened all on its own.

Ignore the nonsense but the core post is very accurate. I hate it as much as anyone.

I asked in another thread about this, but what do you think is the answer to fixing this? Does it seem like the other/ younger players are kind of fed up with the "leadership" of these cancerous few, or is the cancer infecting some of the younger guys as well?

I imagine it would frustrating for less heralded players to see these supposed team leaders pay a bunch of lip service about "The Standard" but not commit to it when noone is watching.

Unfortunately as long as the team has a chance for the playoffs I am not sure what change will happen before the end of the season. But if we drop another one I would expect to see some changes quickly.

Ah shite. After 17 years I thought we had heard the last of the “old timer Coach Bryant boys” trying to relive their glory years, meddling and stirring up shite. Guess not.

They aren’t meddling. They are hearing what everyone else is. A troubling locker room and team that needs to some new culture. Crazy you think they are the problem.

Sides are being taken. It will come to a head eventually with transfers or the coach will fix it.

I mean I can definitely see where something like that is going on. Team leadership acting like they lead from the front in interviews and then leading from the rear behind closed doors and rubbing basically everyone else on the team the wrong way is significantly more plausible than the palace coup scenario.
