lost to az 2-1 but pitching was great for the 4 innings I watched. HItting was not good in clutch

Bama just isn't doing well against good teams this year. 1-5 against ranked teams.

It has. The common denominator? Murphy as the hitting coach. That should be a non-negotiable item in Byrne's after season discussion with Murphy. Hire a new hitting coach. If he won't, maybe we need to shop for a new head coach.

Murphy is pretty obviously the Les Miles of softball. Great recruiter, chronic underachiever, highly resistant to change.

He needs to hire a pitching coach as well. Along with the hitters, the pitchers get worse each year they are in the program. I don't know what stellar advice Prothro gave Lexi when she went to the mound last night but the Arizona hitter promptly hit the next pitch out of the park. Pathetic. This team is in trouble. Murphy better get his head out of his arse and make some changes.

It's not my job to recommend who the new coach should be. That's Greg's job. There are a number of up and coming coaches that would die for the opportunity to lead this program. Murphy has won one, "ONE" championship in 21 years. He thinks he's some sort of God and has his arse handed to him routinely by the top teams. The hitters and pitchers do not improve, and in most cases, regress under his tutelage. Damn right he should be fired or given the ultimatum to revamp his staff or hit the f/n road.

Well DA you recommend he be fired but you wont recommend who Greg should hire. Saying there are up and comers is pretty lame way of avoiding the question right? We are an established program and I doubt we hire and up and comer when that time comes. We will hire an experienced power 5 coach.Let's face it DA you dont have 5 names who should be on Greg's Rolodex. I know I couldnt name anyone who is not already had an established program who would come.

Every time you open your mouth you prove you don't know a fricking thing about softball. Much less coaching softball. Murphy has dropped the ball and is too damn stubborn to change. He needs to change or get out. We talk about this every season. The Bama facilities and fan support are Alabama Softball. Not him.
