Oh I see. They took Jalen out at precisely the time they happened to get a big enough lead to start passing more.

Tell me then, since it's no secret that Jalen's weak point has been passing, why didn't they leave him in a few more of those passing series? Is his stellar passing a secret we're hiding?

Seriously, he's improving, but you're incredible.

Passing the ball downfield is high risk only if you suck at it. This ain't the 1960s, Gene.

You are seriously reaching to what I'm telling you. Once we get in a game where we need those kinds of passes we will attempt them. If we go down against Ole Miss I'd imagine we start passing more depending on how well they do against the run. But according to stats they suck against the run so I'd imagine we run a lot.

Ok Huddie. So a downfield pass is the same as running the ball? Risk wise?

As many times as Hurts fumbled last year, maybe so.

Hyperbole aside, do you seriously believe that you can win things like national titles these days being one dimensional? The Clemson game is enough to convince most reasonable men that you can not.

Why are you talking about last year? And has hurts lost a fumble this year? Is that answer an improvement to last year and why didn't you answer my question?

Oh yeah. He seems to have improved his fumbling habit.

Waiting on the reading defenses, checking down to receivers, and consistent passing downfield.

I'd say this, let's wait and see if they want to bring it out. I truly think it will only be when we need it. If we go down against someone we will start slinging it more.

It's time this board figures out they are feeding a troll.

I say again huddie is a troll.

I say again that since you like QB rating statistics, you might like this one from the Vanderbilt game...

Alabama Passing
C/ATT YDS AVG TD INT QBR
Tua Tagovailoa 8/10 103 10.3 2 0 98.6
Jalen Hurts 9/17 78 4.6 0 0 35.9

Yep, and Tua got a shot at Vandy after they had already been knocked out.

Hurts wasn't as successful during the entire game, and Tagovailoa was playing with other substitute players.

They both play for Alabama.

Folks who think Jalen isn't the best passer, doesn't read routes well, etc is validated.

Also, QBR takes everything into account. Per ESPN:

quote:

ESPN’s Total Quarterback Rating (Total QBR), which was released in 2011, has never claimed to be perfect, but unlike other measures of quarterback performance, it incorporates all of a quarterback’s contributions to winning, including how he impacts the game on passes, rushes, turnovers and penalties. Also, since QBR is built from the play level, it accounts for a team’s level of success or failure on every play to provide the proper context and then allocates credit to the quarterback and his teammate to produce a clearer measure of quarterback efficiency.

Out of the top 5 QBs, his passing EPA is 11.6. Everyone else in the top 5 has a 30+. FWIW.

Huddie i would agree but again the gameplan wasn't the same nor was the condition of the oposition. I would compare QBR if Tua ever gets a clean start.

I don't understand how this matter when projecting his skills and potential.
