Most of the 1st half drive killers were player execution issues. We had a number of holdings.
In the 2nd half, I thought Ty held onto the ball too long and didn't throw them away.
Grubb had an ok game, I thought. From a play calling perspective, I didn't like the Germie wildcat on 3rd down. The traditional running game worked well. We actually ran the ball 38 times compared to passing 31 times.
I was wondering where our screen plays that we used as running plays against UGA went. I actually like spreading the defense out like that.

Read option x2 and Germie wildcat was a terrible playcall sequence. I like the overall design of our offense, but Grubb likes to throw in little wrinkles like that at kind of random times even when taking it right at them is working really well. Against UGA it made sense because you can't just wear a team like that down by being bigger, stronger, and faster, but there was no need for it today and it probably cost us at least ~10 points.

A lot of terrible takes in this thread.
Vandy has a strong and very disciplined team. You guys just complain to complain. They literally stopped the run when they adjusted and morons were asking him to run the ball, yet the passing lanes were open.
We literally killed of the game running the ball and people still complain we didn't run enough.
We put up almost 500 yards of offense and somehow that is terrible against a legitimate top 10-15 team.
You guys are nuts
Grubb and Ty won us that game and when it counts Grubb makes some tremendous calls.

Ryan Grubb got predictable and too cute several times.
When #30 & #3 entered the game...I knew it was AUTOMATIC RUN and so did Vandy.
He should've trusted what got him down there to the RedZone.
He most definitely needs to trust Ty Simpson passing ability more as well.

I think the only things you can say is a handful of mistakes by players on the field took up to 12 points off the board. I only saw 2 playcalls I didn't like from Grubb: the 2nd and 20 run backed up late in the first half; the wildcat on 3rd and 6. Also, almost 500 yards but only 30 points is not fantastic yards conversion to points in my opinion. We left some points on the field today. However I think it is encouraging that the quibbles are not structural problems with the offense. Missed blocks, holds, not throwing the ball away, etc.
We're really close to having something special on offense if they can just keep on improving.

We should remember that the staff has entrusted Ty with the option of changing the call based on what he sees. So some of the calls both good and bad may not be from Grubb. This is often true when the play clock is running short.

I've got to disagree. When it comes to Grubb and the offense, there were two calls that hurt - the deep shot on third and short that got picked and the sweep to Bernard that lost yardage on 3rd and short.
Otherwise, I think it was a great gameplan and executed very well.
Just look at the possessions:
Interception at the Vandy 7. Questionable play call and bad decision by Ty.
Missed FG
TD
Punt
TD
------ Half ------
FG - the Bernard run series. Just a plain out bad play call IMO
FG - Ty took a bad sack on 1st down at their 11
FG - Ty flat out missed a wide open Ryan Williams for what would have been AT LEAST a first down
TD
One punt. 7 out of 8 possessions ended in scoring position. Playing not to lose doesn't look like that.
One thing I believe people are overlooking is how effective Alabama was in the 2 minute offense. I think they could have gone hurry up and done that all game long. They didn't, I think the decision was intentional, and I think it was brilliant. They got into a track meet with Vandy last year and we all know how it worked out. This year Bama won the time of possession by 15 minutes - an entire quarter. Vandy can't score without the ball and by the end they were completely worn out - joyless murderball at it's finest.
