re: Shaun Alexander first stepped on campus 30 years ago

Probably my all time favorite player at UA.
In 2002 or 03 I was on campus and the A Day game was going on. The night before it they had an alumni basketball game at Tusc Academy I think and while Shaun was there he and current NFL players were not playing in the game. The game started and for whatever reason there was very little attendance, long story short Shaun, was the ONLY player that interacted with the fans for more than a minute. He bought pizza and walked around the boxes giving it out to fans… here’s the Seattle RB handing out pizza and signing autographs. Great guy, 99% of my signed Alabama gear is of #37… what a player and great ambassador for UA,

The first running back for Bama that I can remember was Kerry Goode. He might have ended up being the best back ever if it wasn’t for his knee injury. Back then, that was basically a career ending injury. In my opinion, Shaun Alexander is the best running back that we’ve had. His vision was elite and so was his strength. His speed was just enough.

Actually, it was his parents’ decision. They made him turn down the UGA SUV because its top end speed was so much higher and they knew their players got a pass from the Ga LE for traffic abuse, including vehicular homicide. Though Shaun was level-headed, his parents were concerned that the temptation might be too much even for Shaun so they sent him on to Alabama which was where his heart was all along.

Ok. I was unaware that was the requirement to be considered "the Bama guys doing anything of note in the NFL." If this is true, we haven't done shite in 21 years

I wasn’t questioning Shaun being worthy of a compliment but the lack awareness and propriety shown on another program’s board by someone who knows better.

That was not my intent at all. Not everything is a shot at other teams.

You can’t be that dull. Then you doubled down on it when you were called out on it. You sounded like an AU or LSU jerk. I had not remembered you as being that type of poster.

I got family who played SEC ball in the 80s. Every school had some no-show or low-expectations type of job for players with businesses ran by local boosters. From how my dad tells it my uncle was ostensibly “running the car wash” for some dealership near his school and getting paid good money for it.
