When we have almost double the amount of 3rd/4th downs in long positions?

Proves that point we had that our playcalling is very inconsistent. Really need Sheridan to call better games and to hide Milroe's flaws.

Also need to get Sheridan to ease Milroe in games with 1-2 reas short passing like against UGA instead of throw bombs to start.

Honestly if Milroe could just learn a couple things to key on reads that could help the OC as well.

Yep it is actually getting annoying watching him hit them seemingly 5 miles up and 35 yards long

He's 11th in the country at 46.4 yards per kick.

The offense hasn't been as hit or miss as a lot of people seem to think.

Scoring drives against Mizzou
8 plays, 50 yards. FG
11 plays, 59 yards, FG
3 plays, 35 yards, TD
6 plays, 80 yards, TD
5 plays, 65 yards, TD
5 plays, 77 yards, TD

The only short drive was due to a short field. The problem is generally it's TD or 3 and out. The problem there is losing field position when you do that which can catch up with you.

One thing this did prove is that Missouri was a paper tiger.

On the defensive side, yardage stats are never going to be super favorable to this scheme. The key is generating turnovers. We've forced 18, 1st in the SEC and 3rd nationally. That's created a better defense than the yardage stats suggest.

I don't think we're top in the SEC on the defensive side, but we're better than average.

Total yardage, no, but YPP should be. It's goal is to keep you in front, make you go on long drives that take lots of plays under the assumption that at some point we will either (a) take the ball away, (b) create a havoc play that puts you behind the sticks or (c) you will make a mistake (misthrow, drop, etc). At worst, you get to the red zone and we hold you to a field goal attempt.

However, you are right. This defense is built around Pts Per Drive, which we've been solid at this season (1.48 - #13 overall, # 3 in the SEC). We're actually better defensively (1.48 - #13) than we are offensively (2.90 - #21) in points per drive.

Same with drive success rate (% of drives that end in a TD or FG attempt)
Offense - #45 (46.6%) (#7 SEC)
Defense - #24 (33.7%) (#4 SEC)
