I don't care what he says publicly, I'll never believe this wasn't related to the health of someone in the Saban family.

Absolutely. I'm going to miss the hell out of his press conferences.

When will there be a ESPN 30 for 30 on Coach Saban?

Best part is you can read it in Saban’s voice. Honestly makes me feel even better about this whole transition.

Also, which moron is methodically downvoting every post on this thread? Some bitter betty from the tRant that is realizing Bama once again has a good hire at head coach.

He's not dead y'all. He's just retired. It was going to happen one day, and we should all be thankful that we will never have to remember Saban like FSU and Penn State fans remember Papa Bowden and Paterno at the end. Like even setting aside the whole employing a child predator for 30 years thing, Penn State fans who were alive for it will always remember that time Paterno ran into the locker room in the middle of a football game because he literally shite his fricking pants. We'll never have to deal with that and I am deeply thankful for it.

Probably 90%. Him interviewing Grubbs is evidence he's very impressed with what they had going on in Seattle.

God it’s still so freaking weird man…I never thought I’d see coach lose the will to compete at this level but that’s what this is. It all makes sense now and he has the foresight to recognize that this is what’s best. The man is brilliant.

He no longer had that drive and he knew it would only deteriorate the program if he selfishly held on. So what did he do? He walked away when there’s still a championship level roster in tact because he understands that this is what’s best for Alabama if we want to have a seamless transition after his retirement.

He still loves being a part of a team and this has to kill him walking away from this program and these players but he knew he was becoming too content internally. It happens man. You can’t escape it. He’s a 72 year old grandfather. He has accomplished more than anyone ever will. It’s only natural he’d eventually start to lack that killer instinct.

He’ll always be our coach. Roll Tide.

I think at 72 it was this whole "recruit your own team" after every season that made him say screw it. Without these ridiculous changes since 2020, I fully believe he wanted to coach that game scheduled when Bama goes to West Virginia.

I miss him. Excited for Coach DeBoer, but it’s sad to see the Saban Era come to an end.

He will forever be my coach. No words will express how grateful Bama nation should be and I mean from the fan all the way to the President of The University. He went out with class and made sure to set us up for future success. The Legacy will never fade.

Now we turn the page and we back Deboer with all we have. He needs our support like Saban got it.

Roll Tide
