And, that lack of discipline is a reflection of the coaching. Hell, I have said from my first post in this thread that Saban made a bad hire in Golding.

The lack of discipline isn't just on defense. Did you watch the last 10 minutes? Did you see WHY we had to try a field goal?

guess Ed Orgeron is the best thing since sliced bread because he hired Joe Brady.

I have no idea what you are talking about. I've said almost nothing about assistant coach hires.

Compare the 08-15 Bama teams with what we have seen since then. (2017 was a pure miracle). The loads of self inflicted mistakes, the clear talent decline, getting outclassed in big games, the defense or lack thereof, Or just take what many opposing players have said about Alabama for the past few years: “This ain’t the old Alabama.” If I knew the exact problem I’d be rich. But something is going on and it’s more than just a shitty DC.

I mentioned the false starts. Did you not see that?

But I'm confused how consistently doing that type of stuff isn't registering as a massive change from the old program that was mentally ironclad?

Where has the talent declined? The 08-15 teams had better coaching staffs. And, 2017 was not a pure miracle. That's BS. Daboll and Pruitt were damn good coaches and we had great players.

Bama is still pulling top 5 classes so I don't buy the talent decline argument. Bama has more talent than LSU and Auburn to be honest. We have a clear coaching staff decline particularly on the defensive side of the ball.

Well, Saban isn't one to fire a coach during the regular season. And, Kyle Flood is in his first year with the OL so he might get a pass. But, Golding? He won't get a pass.

Also - DEFENSIVE COORDINATOR IS NOT OUR ONLY ISSUE. The lack of discipline stuff is a core program issue

Well spoken.
Defense is just a part of the problem.
Only Alabama plays worse in big games than they do in other games. False starts. Kicking game for shite, 12 men on the field

Golding should be and is likely gone. He has had two years and even with the injuries needed to show improvement. He didn’t.

All of the others coaches should be safe. Sark did a fantastic job game planning for the game. Plus, if we want Bryce, then he stays.

People want to bitch about Banks, but I think he has a done a fantastic job. It’s not like he can go out there and make the kickers hit a field goal. We had kicker issues long before he come along. Plus, our best kicker got injured because he said that he was fine...when he wasn’t. Let’s not forget that Tua was the place holder and he got hurt. Waddle has been electric and Banks is a great recruiter.

Honestly, I think we let Golding go and try to get someone with some experience to replace him. The rest of the staff has been pretty good and should get another year.

Yea I'm not getting the Sark hate. He's a perfectly solid elite program coordinator. And he's a great QB coach and recruiter.

If Saban offers F U money to Jim Leonhard, that would interest me. If not, take a run at the UGA guy (Schulmann?).

Alright, I’m going to call you on this. Be very specific as to exactly what is going wrong within the program, and say exactly how you know this. None of this cryptic BS.

Its the recruiting issues. I've mentioned this multiple times and usually get downvoted to oblivion. We haven't recruited the same mental type of players we used to. The mentally tough alpha dogs like Ryan Anderson, Reggie Ragland, Rolando McClain, Reuben Foster, etc are long gone.

We have cast a wider recruiting net and as a result have gotten more soft. There is nothing as tough as alpha dogs from the southeastern United States. Thats not to say you can't win with guys outside of the SE, but you need a core group of killers in Saban's old 6 hour radius.

The Anomas of the world just aren't gonna cut it.

It's always the carpenter, not the tools. Jimmies and Joes always trump Xs and Os.

What is a "top 5" class when its made up of guys that aren't tough or talented enough to perform at a high level at this level?

or transfer b/c they're a diva? It's amazing we won this much with a top class every year b/c of the turnover, etc. Ideally, you're getting lower end four stars with your five stars. Would be interest to compare us to OSU, for ex.

You gotta be honest and admit the State of Alabama produced an incredible load of LBers that have fueled this dynasty. McClain, Foster, Ragland, Evans, SDH, Mack Wilson, etc. The in-state LBers dipped and just got good again with this in-coming class.

The two best linebackers to come out of Tennessee are Donta Hightower and Patrick Willis. Hightower was a four star and Willis was maybe two stars (apropos to Ed Orgeron).
