I wouldn't mind him saying, "Seth played like trash in the Rose Bowl, and he consistently snapped the ball like it was slathered in butter". I would laugh.... but he's classier than me

If you watch the whole 2 minute video he basically does say that, in a classy Saban way.

He's not going to do that. Saban uses a very English tone when he's speaking about this kind of thing though, so "not great" and "a little bit of an issue" can be taken to mean "it was a total fricking disaster."

Unreal to know that was an issue against Auburn and then Michigan. Milroe probably panicked a little but I agree with Saban. 4th and goal from the 3, playing the #1 defense, 1st year as a starting QB and I have to handle this shitty snap before I can try to read what the defense is giving me.

He didnt seem to care much about it either. Milroe had finally had enough and yelled at him a little after the first terrible snap in the Michigan game and Mclaughlin responded by making another bad snap the next play.

I saw that.
Again, I heard early on McLaughsnap was staying, then suddenly thereafter he was leaving. It's pure speculation but I think the locker room told him to get lost which is awesome, but the problem is this:
Why did Saban let this guy snap the ball all over the field ALL SEASON long. Why did the players finally have to start barking at the center on live tv to snap the fricking ball.
Rolando McClain would have killed his arse in the locker room after that auburn game.

Because the alternative would have been Dalcourt, which would have just produced a different set of problems because while the snaps would have been better, he's even more of a turnstile. McLaughlin's entire career here was built on having one good game against UGA and not being Dalcourt. It's not that they "let" him frick up all season. It's that we somehow failed to recruit and develop anyone to replace him.

I'm very curious to see where we find answer to the OL problems for next season. We need to replace RT, and we need someone to play Center that can accurately snap the ball. Seth couldn't have gotten the ball to Milroe if he turned around and walked it back to him...

Agreed, and obviously that's the answer, but at what point do you not look up and down the roster pull a guy to the side and say "you're gonna start taking reps at center for the rest of the season."
I guess it's hard for me to believe out of all those highly rated OL that nobody could snap the ball to the QB.

I don’t think it’ll be toooo difficult to improve it.
Proctor should be at least a little better.
Center won’t be wrecking entire offensive plans with shite snaps.
Latham is good but he’s a better pro prospect than actual in game producer at this point. He wasn’t great this season.
Right guard is very good and coming back.
Etc.
Our bad this year was REALLY bad. But it seemed like just a few “small” things that wrecked the offense.
If the center has a perfectly normal game for a college snapper, Alabama probably beats Michigan.
With a slightly better OL as a whole, Alabama probably squeaks out a win.
If Reese keeps running the fricking ball to allow our OL to attack Alabama probably wins the game.
If Jalen is at the end of his 2nd full year of starting(which he would be this time next year if he wins the job) Alabama probably wins the game.
All of the negative things showing up in 1 game resulted in an OT loss to the #1 team in the country.

I only say this as a guy who was the emergency center in HS and got thrown into 1 game.
It is extremely hard to snap and ball and then make your block. I think a lot of the bad snaps was Seth being anxious/nervous about getting to his block and that caused his snaps to be off.

I’m sure it’s hard for most high school centers. Most college centers don't seem to have a problem doing it, not nearly as much as Mclaughlin does. Don't remember it being a problem with our other centers in the past to this extent.

It would be like a twilight zone episode level of weird but maybe somebody has been paying Seth to snap the ball crazy all year. Maybe he's a point shaver, and he's got an account somewhere with his retirement in it.

Wouldnt surprise me. Something seems fishy about it. I Don’t remember him having issues with snapping the ball last season.

He'd have to do it like we did when we were kids playing touch football...stand sideways and reach down and toss it underhanded. Hell, he'd probably still toss it over his head.
