I've heard Cole Cublic talk about taking snaps under center.
Most of these kids dont do any of it in high school. Cublic said you have to practice it a lot and its just not something you can do unless you put a lot a work into it.
The reason we didnt make the 4th down play was on the running back. He just slipped and fell down. IMO, it was a mistake putting the 3rd string back into the game. He had not been playing and should not have been in the game.

Do we have anyone on our staff who could take over play calling? BOB just aint it. Saban is not going to embarrass the man by firing him mid-season, but he could quietly hand over some responsibilities to someone with an ounce of creativity. Surely we have an analyst who was a former OC?

I get the impression that CNS is much less hands-on with his assistants than he was in years past. It isn’t working out so well.

as another guy noted, Alabama has won 2 SEC titles, played in 2 national titles, and won 1 of them the last 2 years.

I'll take that.

Fingers pointed right at BOB. No creativity or imagination. He better have a long talk with BOB. We have too much talent to look this crappy! Period.

I think BOB is only one of the problems. Like most "disasters" there are multiple variables causing the undesirable outcome.

1. Coach Saban and Alabama committed to a more pass happy oriented offense several years ago. An issue with a pass first offense, and it's inevitable, the run game will suffer. In particular, it takes reps to perform the blocking schemes and run block effectively. Spending most of the time passing the ball does not help with this. A team really can't do both at an optimal level at all times.
2. Coach BOB is not a great game day coordinator. He can't change up on the fly and make in game adjustments very well. Coach BOB, in my opinion, is lazy and has bought in on the "Alabama is just better than 99.99% of the opposition." This might have been the case three years ago but it's not now. He's not working to create any mismatches or minimize the offense's shortcomings.
3. The Alabama O line has some major issues; especially at the center and guard position. The Texas NG embarrassed Dallacout all day on Saturday. He's not the only one. Alabama for whatever reason, has a "talent" issue on the O line that they haven't had to deal with in a long while.
4. WR play is average. They have a group of possession receivers. There is no Julio, Cooper, Ridley, Smith, Waddle, I forget his name #4, Williams or even a Metchie in this lineup. You can't be a pass first offense with a bunch of possession receivers. You need at least one guy to take the top off. They currently don't have that guy.

Will try not to pile on OB too much since just about everything has been covered. I saw a lot of what I saw in the Georgia game after Jamo went out from the offense. Guys not getting off coverage because they don't seem to be sure what they're supposed to do. OB's offense isn't bad, it's too complicated. They call a play in the huddle then spend another 15 seconds making checks at the line. Every single down. It's too much to do. Especially on the road. Just call a play and execute.

The home/road splits on offense are pretty incredible since he's been the OC which definitely lends itself to what you are saying. I'd be curious what our average play clock remaining time is at snap on the road vs at home - I have to think its much lower on the road.

The only home game we played poorly in offensively to date under BoB was LSU, and that was basically because LSU played an entirely new defense than they'd played the entire season and caught us completely off guard. Lit up Ole Miss, Tennessee, LSU and Arkansas. Lit up Miami and Georgia in Atlanta. Struggled once off script @ Florida, @ Auburn and @ Texas. Played relatively well @ A&M (turnovers) and @ State (all around solid performance).

Pretty big issue to fix considering we still have trips to Fayetteville, Knoxville and Baton Rouge left and all 3 will be very, very loud (Oxford too but I don't think the same noise/communication issues apply there).

We aren't doing sneaks with Bryce because our guards don't get enough push and he's not big enough to compensate for it.

He didn’t slip. His legs were taken out by his own man when either the center or left guard was blown backwards over a yard.

Since the rule change a couple of years ago, this is not a valid issue. 600 pounds of guys pushing from behind provides more than enough push to compensate.

One guy essentially knocked both the center and guard backward causing the guard to trip up RW.
