You seriously want to argue that our coaching staff is intentionally keeping players out of the game they KNOW will do a great job?
They're not necessarily intentionally keeping them out, but they are slooooooooow on the trigger sometimes.
The punter situation is just the latest example.

They're slooooooow on the trigger based on uninformed fans and their expectations. (Which is essentially all of us.) I'd be willing to bet they're pretty quick on the trigger once a player does everything he's supposed to do in practice and in class.

Holy shite, are we still arguing hurts vs tua regular season 2017?

Several of the alleged fans on this board do, yes. They are utterly convinced they know more than Saban and the staff.

How many times do you have to watch a punter average 33 yards before you realize you need to make a change and put in the guy that's kicking it 45? How the hell could they not tell in the summer that this walk-on was better than any punter on the roster?
How many times did that walk on shank one or get one blocked in practice? How many times did he drop the snap or maybe even miss the ball entirely?
You answer those questions for me and I will answer your question for you.

Then there’s the other half of Bama fans who think once you are named a coach in Tuscaloosa you become a demigod who knows all and never makes a mistake.
Saban, like Bryant and every other person who is a legendary figure in their chosen profession, has an ego that fills BDS. He has a big problem admitting when he is wrong because they seldom are. But when they are, they ignore the truth as long as they can rather than own it. It’s a character flaw.
How many times do you have to trot DeLong out there and watch him shank a punt or hit it clean for 35 yards every game? I don’t care if he’s JK Scott in practice, by now, you have to know he can’t perform under the lights. There have been several other instances of this over the past as well, Tua is a good one.
It bothers the hell out of the average fan because everyone CAN see it including Saban. But Saban and people like him cant understand that nobody will hold the original choice over his head as much as they will not admitting the error and correcting it. Nobody expects him to be perfect, they expect him to realize a poor choice and correct it as soon as it is obvious. DeLong vs Perine e is just the latest example.
