I miss this monster so much, and what he did to set the tone for the Saban era. All this talk about Moses has me WTF...how did we get here?!

It’s just not 2009 anymore. That being said, great defense can still be played. We are where we are because of recruiting misses in 2018 and 2019 at LB. It is also pretty clear Moses is not over his injury.

Alabama had a great lineage at Mike LB from 2007-2017. Hopefully these stud prep LBs signed in the 2019 and 2020 classes can restart that. Christian Harris seems to be getting there.

Rolando would be doing a hell of a lot of chasing he's not accustomed to. By the second half, I would start fearing for our DC's health.

One of my all time favorite players of the Saban era. What a player ,what a leader. Sad that he lost his appetite for football.

He was blessed with great genetics and smarts off the charts. He also had some emotional health issues that caught up with him. I think coach Saban intervened a few times trying to be a bridge. I just hope Rolando can find some happiness in his life.

I agree. And amidst all his personal foibles he maintained a healthy relationship with Saban.
Respect is mutual between the two,it seems.

Coach Saban knew what was going on. Rolando said as much in a very revealing interview years ago. But he was great in his time at Alabama. I think all Bama fans believe that's what mattered most to them.

No. he got lot going on... he's from my hometown... There's a reason why he was told to stay away from Decatur many times.... It brings the worst out of him.

Honestly, there just aren’t football players built like that anymore. Everyone is skinny now, with skinny arms and legs.

Lb play all changed when you stop being able to tell a run vs pass by how the online is blocking. Most of our lb greats from the early saban years would be struggling in the college game right now, all would have been 25+ lbs overweight for what is currently required. Those that made it to the nfl and didn't flame out for personal reasons do fine because the offensive rules are still somewhat rational in the nfl (other than not being able to hit anybody). Linemen can only be a yard down field for a pass, instead of 3 yards in college (which turns into 5-7 yards and is still never called)
