Restructure of college football

Normally id post something like this on the SEC board...but for obvious reasons, that is a no go now
Ive been harping on this but the real obstacles to saving CFB are the activist courts and most of all greed of the schools.
Ive seen the idea of football becoming its own private entity, essentially leasing the facilities and brand from the school and making players employees where the players must unionize and collectively bargain. This is the most likely outcome.
I think there are other, better options that preserve at least a fraction of the integrity of the sport.
Schools are going have to start demonstrating that they are not going to take profits at the expense of the student body experience, community and players
-Athletic department budgets must be slashed. Football money contributions have to other sports must be capped
-TV deals must be restructured to a minimalistic way. No commercial breaks except for halftime, minimal in-game ads
-All revenue will be used to cover costs/savings/facilities, all additional revenue will be put into a collective that will be shared amongst players on all P5(or whatever it is now) players
-Licensing of video game sales will all go to players
-Players must sign away rights to NIL for the duration they are enrolled in school in order to play CFB. No collectives, no endorsements, no direct payments from boosters.
-Revert back to traditional transfer rules. Gradutes can transfer penalty free to start a master's/additional degree at another school
I think the biggest hurdle is the courts. The schools are going to have to demonstrate that they are not disproportionately making money on the backs of players.

Commissioner Saban can fix NIL. He warned, and nobody listened… while he’s at it he’ll fix bowl season too.

I wish Saban had dictator powers over CFB

Seems to be working fine for the ones college is supposed to work for: the students.
Ultimately this is all the fault of the adults, and here’s how to fix it:
1. Don’t give employees fricking nine figure contracts to teach an extracurricular activity at an institution of higher learning. Pay them comparable to a senior professor or something.
2. Don’t give players money if they ask for it. Be willing to lose because of it.
If winning is so important that you can’t say no to coaches and players with their hands out, then they are fairly taking advantage of your obsession with their very rare ability to provide what you want - and I don’t blame them.
I’m a major supporter of NIL opportunities, but I’m not going to donate a cent to any collectives because I don’t live or die over college kids playing football.

It definitely needs new rules and maybe a new governing body (one that is highly funded to strictly do nothing but oversee the rules and the accounting processes) that include a monetary cap (with the normal full ride + expenses) yearly for all players. The teams that can’t do that go to a lower division - overseen by a different body.
Let them transfer for any reason (it shouldn’t be for money anymore - so it is highly overseen) and let them leave for the pros early (after 2 years if they are good enough to cash in).

Byrne needs to renegotiate that Nike apparel contract. It should be over $250 Million or more
