WASHINGTON, D.C. – Who is the middleman on the receiving end of LSU basketball coach Will Wade's "strong-arse offer"?
His name is Shannon Forman, a fixture in Baton Rouge basketball circles and someone who LSU freshman guard Javonte Smart referred to as "my mentor." Documents viewed by Yahoo Sports show a link between Forman and Christian Dawkins, the aspiring agent and recently convicted felon who Wade was talking to on the call that has ultimately led to his suspension.

If Buffalo was in the SEC, where would they have finished this year?
Hmmmm - hard to tell but if you just use KenPom rankings
7. Kentucky
10. Tennessee
13. Auburn
19. LSU
20. Mississippi State
21. Buffalo
25. Florida
51. Ole Miss
55. Arkansas
65. Alabama
69. Missouri
70. South Carolina
93. Texas A&M
133. Georgia
155. Vanderbilt
So, depending on conference schedule, somewhere around 11-7 or 10-8 in conference, probably about the same seed in the NCAAT.

But does he run a barber shop?

I think this is probably right. They went 3-2 against P5 teams this season, but none of those games were at home. So probably slightly above .500 in conference.

Phil, there's a reason Wade didn't respectfully meet with AD Alleva. He knows because of his carelessness he & LSU are screwed. LSU fans will eventually wake up & turn on him.

The Bulls have finished in the top five in average offensive possession length each of the past two seasons, typically getting a shot up in less than 15 seconds. That allowed the team to rank fifth nationally with 84.9 points per game this season.
Simply put, Oats likes his teams to play fast. Really fast.

He’s regarded as a rising star in the coaching profession for a reason, and a lot of it has to do with his ability to develop players and help them meet their potential. He created a special atmosphere at Buffalo, and it was one that made players want to meet the high demands that were asked of them.
As for the style of play, of course it can work. Oats has embraced the idea of offensive freedom combined with an open shot mentality, and his quote in a recent ESPN article by Jordan Schultz tells you all you need to know:
“If you pass up an open shot that ends up in a turnover, you’re coming out of the game. I’m tired of passing up open shots. It’s stupid.”

Alabama frosh Kira Lewis told @Stadium he met with new coach Nate Oats this morning; hasn’t ruled out returning to Crimson Tide. Also said he’s heard from Duke, Memphis, Tennessee & others since entering transfer portal. He’s met with Baylor, Nevada and will meet Iowa St. today.

the longer they drag it out the better for us. No way they can recruit anyone with this mess hanging over them. I dont see how it could get any worse for lsu and Wade, but it seems to be headed in the wrong direction. Sounds like a major institutional control issue with the bag man. Surely they dont use a bag man with the football program, too. I figured wade was funding the payments to the players from his own money.

“Here’s what it does for me,” Oats said of the extension. “I can concentrate on coaching games. I don’t have to worry about the rest of things. I tell Rick, ‘ just tell everybody, no thanks, unless it’s something unreal.”
This is a quote from Oats when he signed the extension with Buffalo a couple weeks ago.

Yea - I watched his interview (I think it was after their conference tournament). He basically said it eliminates a bunch of jobs from calling to ask. The general idea was look, some big job may come after me and that is ok, but this basically stops, say, Dayton from calling him. They have no shot with the $$$$.
It streamlined things in terms of having to deal with every high mid major and low P5 school calling them because those schools couldnt afford it anymore.

Ah, I see.
That makes a little more sense than Alabama basketball being an “unreal” opportunity.
