So he has been a head coach for a total of 4 years. What a hire.

Averages 24 wins a year

69% winning percentage. I would call that elite

Ncaat win the past 2 years.

Thad was playing UA to fulfill his contract buyout agreement with OSU. He has to be candidates at schools to show he’s trying to get a job. He has done this to Alabama, UGA, Ole Miss, and Pitt.

On to Nate Oats... great hire with a good story about how he got to college coaching. Some will say he road the coattails of Hurley but if you look at what he’s built you realize that the program took a bigger step forward under Oats.

Next year is probably going to suck if the transfer protal players all go. But give the man time to build a program and system. Avery really set the program back with the lack of development and direction. I think you will actually see some progress next year but the wins might not be there

That could be bonus...maybe he will not load up on overrated payers from the state of Alabama

We have a roster full of them

He's won his first round NCAA tourney games the last two years by beatdowns.

I think that he's a very good coach, it just feels underwhelming right now. I sure hope he's successful. This isn't nearly as big of a reach as hiring Avery

Here is The Nate Oats Story:

LINK

"The Bulls have taken on the blunt-force personality of their coach, an indomitable combination of man-to-man defense and blue-collar attitude that no one would be surprised to see in the Sweet 16. Or beyond.

"He's a straight shooter, there's very little filter with Nate," said Arizona State Bobby Hurley, who hired him as an assistant at Buffalo in 2013. "There's almost a naïve youthfulness, as he just has a natural joy for the game of basketball.""

That's what I'm most interested in. Does he have an actual, identifiable, coherent style?

I don't really care that he followed another coach who was successful or that he just has four years of experience.

Yes - which is something I'm very happy with.

Fast, efficiency, tempo

They rank in the Top 20 in shortest offensive possession length every year he's been there, Top 40 in Tempo.

It seems like this search was built around saving money. UA is fine with losing in basketball as long as we aren't overpaying for it I guess.
