Prohm has AGREED to an extension. I doubt very seriously he has SIGNED anything yet. Big difference.

I can only assume from some lost texts from the ancient library of Alexandria.

In 4 years before Forbes arrival ETSU had gone 62-65.
The 4 years he's been there
100-39 Overall.
55-17 League record
He's a bonafied WINNER!!!

Yeah, that would be depressing if true. I understand the state produces talent, but that talent has headed elsewhere for years now.

From the AP:

quote:

Iowa State and coach Steve Prohm have agreed to a three-year contract extension. The new deal ends speculation that Prohm might leave to take over at Alabama, his alma mater.

I know how this is being presented but I find it hard to believe Prohm and Iowa St have actually had time to have a contract drawn up, reviewed, and signed that rapidly. Maybe I’m wrong. I don’t like to think our safety net is gone.

If you like Forbes more, then I don’t think you have anything to worry about. No way he turns down the job if offered.

I don't think he ever really was our safety net. After passing him over for Avery I figured he would stick it out in Ames this time around.

Cecil's "not unexpected" comment and Byrne's comments about hearing things and agents using it for leverage, I think there's a great chance Prohm was never really in contention.

Yep. Prohm used Alabama, like it or not.

Eh, Prohm never really said anything about leaving.

I think it’s more along the lines of Iowa State made a move to make sure he wouldn’t be interested.

If true, I don't really hold that against him. That's how these things work. Plus I don't think Byrne really considered him that much anyways.

They flirted, talked about dating, Matta decided he wasn't ready to get back in and his health wasn't quite back up to snuff.

Who made Prohm a candidate in the first place? Sure as hell wasn’t Byrne.

If we end up with Forbes I’ll be extremely satisfied.

When’s the last time the basketball coaching search had as much attention as spring football practice?

I've paid ZERO attention to spring practice for the first time. I'm dying for a good basketball team.
