It should be a quick conversation, my friend. These crowds have at least a 50% mix of whites and often much more. This ain't Martin Luther King's freedom rallies. Turn on the black and white film and you'll see the token whites who felt the struggle to some degree. Today, these white folks in these crowds look as motivated and angry as any of the militant blacks. Integration through mixed marriages and relationships, a mutual feeling of economic despair, and a sense of strong class distinctions gives both groups a lot to reminisce over and share in common.
Make no mistake, these white people are highly motivated beyond helping the downtrodden minority.
True but I'm referring beyond just the recent out of control looting/etc.
Key example... the Don't Tread On Me flag is seen by many black people as right wing extremism. But the issue of police overstepping boundaries is one major element of what that flag represents... government treading on individual constitutional rights. We'd see eye to eye if we'd look at each other from time to time and see past politics. American politics has become so poisonous and vitriolic that we view fellow Americans as the enemy and that is dangerous to the very constitution that's designed to protect us from true tyranny.
As far as the looting is concerned, these people are anarchists who take issue with the system. They are anti capitalism and anti constitution. They don't want fairness, they want domination. But our way of life via the constitution, branches of government, etc were not designed for dominance of political ideology. It designed around compromise. And if that compromise meant not getting lunatics like "muh Bernie" elected to harm capitalism, so be it.
But we have to draw the line between protests of flaws in law enforcement and anarchy of the system as a whole.

That's money that could been invested in smart policing. We could have decoy squads, etc. designed to outsmart the criminals.
That may be true, but let’s be clear that our governments are allowing this to happen. The police and military are more than capable of quelling these riots if authorized.

You nailed it, man. And the political parties like it just the way it is because as long as left is busy fighting right, they are too busy to stop and realize both sides are corrupt failures, only interested in maintaining power and to hell with what's best for the country.
The protests have been manipulated into riots by extremists of every bent to further their own agenda. Unfortunately, they all have the same end goal of anarchy/civil war. You have the anarchists, ANTIFA, white supremacists, the Boogaloo movement, and then sprinkle in some good old thugs and opportunists just looking for a chance to loot and fight and they all view this as an opportunity to accelerate their goals. It makes me mad, because the purpose of the protest has been completely lost in the violence.

These are incredible social disorders that have plagued this country. The difference between the haves and have nots continue to grow exponentially in this country. What you suggest would be fine and would certainly work if people viewed each other as equals. People aren't equal. And a simple look of the eye says it best. Whether it's coming from a politician, judge, or policeman.

I think as far as the looting goes, most of it is just tugs who see this an an opportunity to steal stuff. Its like open season. I get to take what I want because so many are doing it, I can get away with it.

This post makes me wonder what may have come had the FBI and the Chicago Police hadn't assassinated Fred Hampton. He had forged an alliance between poor blacks and poor white Appalachians and that scared them so bad they assassinated him.

He would be laughing his a$$ off. The dynamics today have far outreached his intent.

About 20 protesters in front of Hoover City Hall on the way home from picking up the kid from daycare.

I assume I have it because my wife tested positive for it. I got tested yesterday so I'll know officially once the results come back.

What happens when the curfew takes effect?
Do they just start arresting people?

Oh man, I thought you were joking too. Hope you and your wife get through it quickly and without any issues.
How do you think y’all got it? Did you two go out looting?

Dre Kirkpatrick says he was scared as hell last night protecting his store from rioters and stopped some from looting the business next door.
More interestingly, I learned today that Dre K owns a high end baby clothing store in Cincinnati's trendy Over-the-Rhine neighborhood.
I like the elephant logo.
