Some guy on BOL claims that he has a friend in the athletic department who says that the targets are now Prohm, Miller, and Avery. I know this piece of info is a big TIFWIW, but I figure some info is better than none.

It doesn't include Petino so that's good

One's name wouldn't be mentioned if he didn't have a connection to UA.

Two of those hires are as close to a homerun as you can get. Miller and Avery are almost Gregg Marshall level hires. Frankly, if I were Bill Battle, I would have offered all three (Avery, Marshall, Miller) the same contract and whoever gets back to me first with it signed gets the job. It was ridiculous how much leverage we gave Marshall when Avery and Miller could get the job done, especially Miller.

I really am intrigued by Avery Johnson. I just have a hard time feeling it's legit.

What is Archie's new contract like? Is the buyout massive? Is he even a real option?

The only thing that scares me a bit is can he recruit at a high level? I know his pedigree should help him out there, but he doesn't have much experience in recruiting. Perhaps that can be solved with good assistant hires?

I think Dayton is a private school so they don't have to release any contract info. I would imagine he makes in the 1 million dollar range with a manageable buyout.

That's really what it would boil down to. He can sell his NBA connections, but he'll need guys with ties to AAU programs as well as another X & O guy

Outbid howland for his guy with ATL connections. Ideal xo guy is an ex HC---chris Jans would be nice. M

He's already on staff at MSU. It's too late for that.

I'd take a bowl of Tootie Fruities (generic Froot Loops) as head coach before Petino.

Y'all, Avery Johnson would be the biggest gamble of all. If we're going to do that, give it to TR Dunn. At least he has some experience at the college level. As I have stated and I will stand by my statement, with the hires over the past two weeks, the SEC ain't no place to learn your craft. You'd better be a grizzled veteran mofo with all the tricks, in this league now.

Dunn doesn't have any HC experience. Avery Johnson would be a gamble, but the reward potential is through the roof. And he'd probably be an incredible recruiter.

Too many questions with an Avery hire. It would be a big splash but beyond that I'm skeptical.

"Splash hire" is getting thrown around a lot, especially now that Marshall refused. I consider it a bonus not a necessity. Get a solid tactician with a clear vision of how he wants to run a program. The wins will come and everything else will then fall into place.

I'd love to have Avery. He's a really good coach, plus a NBA championship ring as a player sitting on his desk next to his NBA coach of the year award will impress recruits.

On another note, a plane from Tuscaloosa spent all afternoon in Ruston today.

I'll jump on the Avery train. He was known for his leadership and could be huge for us recruiting wise.
