Take that boy down sorority row and show him the scenery!

How old is the daughter? Hard for kids to move in high school if they've got a couple of years to go. The age of his kids may factor in.
If I was in his shoes I would involve kids in discussions, but they wouldn't get a vote. I'd leave voting privileges to their mother and me. At the end, I'd tell them "we've discussed this and we feel like the best thing for our family is XYZ". Kids are going to vote to stay where they know people, are popular, and their life isn't impacted.

My guess is that the family has a trip planned for this weekend. Maybe the kids are out of school on Good Friday (like my kids are) and they plan to fly down Thursday evening (when people aren't really looking for them). A tour Thursday late or early Friday would make sense with end of the week timeframe that has been thrown around.
Take them to Saban's house and tell them they can afford a place like it just down the water from him.

This weekend? Not being critical of you because it could certainly happen but I'd be amazed if that happens simply because I'd never seen a coach take his sweet time like that to consider an offer.
He's got all of the leverage here but at some point you have to say to him "Alabama just offered you $4 million dollars to coach a sport. You'll be one of the highest paid coaches in basketball. We're a proud university with a history of championships with one of the biggest brands in the sporting world. We want you to be our coach. Our University will continue it's championship tradition with or without you. We want you to be the man who took Alabama Basketball to that next level. You have a chance to be a legend here, not just another in a long line of coaches. You have our offer and its time for a decision."

The plantations and slave owners are still alive and well; they've just adapted and morphed a bit.

It does stand to reason that he might want to come to Tuscaloosa with his family to check it out....to see the facilities, meet the AD staff, and yeah probably will talk to Saban as well. I assume, he has probably never seen the facilities, the campus, or the town. It's one thing to get an offer, but you would want to actually visist with your family and check it all out first hand.

I agree its unusual. BUT, I was told to see how the week plays out by a person in position to know whats going on. This was on Monday. So my guess was that we didn't expect anything to break before. Couple that with the need to see Ttown, and the fact that the Marshall family has been very quiet. Maybe they didn't want their kids to miss a day of school and set off the alarm that they were gone. The first day they could get down here is (assuming the kids get Good Friday off) is Thursday night/Friday. Fits the timeframe I was told to expect. Its a lot of guessing on my part, but with some informed info also.

At least we aren't melting...yet.

A visit isn't that unusual. I posted yesterday that it wouldn't shock me if this thing plays out a few days and includes a visit. I was thinking we'd get a visit today with an answer either tonight or Thursday. If this rolls into the weekend then it starts looking like a clownshow. We have a fleet of jets standing by. They could visit at anytime if seeing the facilities is that big of a deal. Stretching this things out to a week after the offer seems ridiculous. Don't recall anything like that before.
I want Marshall to be our coach. He'd be a home run hire. At the end of the day though, he needs to realize that this isn't like the time he was considering an offer from College of Charleston.

He obviously has serious interest. Give him seven more days or so, then move on.

I guess that guy doesn't realize we're the law and business school in the state. Medschool as well if you consider that a lot of the UAB students are Bama fans.

Seven Days? That just seems highly unusual to me. He knew for over two weeks before that an offer...a big crazy offer...was coming. This is a big decision but it shouldn't take that long to accept a job offer.

Unusual, maybe but I don't see why it has to be a negative. As long as he is seriously considering the move, Bama can afford to wait a few days in March/April for a decision.
