Thanks for sharing.

Saying that a hiring announcement could come as early as Sunday sounds promising. I'm trying to not get excited, but it's good to finally see something happening.

Yes. But it was pure speculation.

I agree! But I am assuming that they are practically just guessing at a timeline right now. They might know more later this evening or something.

There's a poster on another board who is lifelong friends with Marshall. He said that it wouldn't shock him if Gregg visited Tuscaloosa to check things out first.

I don't know if that happens because you just don't see that in bigtime college athletics. That strategy might work if you're looking to move from Winthrop to College of Charleston, but not in high profile cases like this.

I find it hard to believe that he'll visit Tuscaloosa without taking the job. There is too much smoke. That said, get his arse to Tuscaloosa before Texas makes a move.

Not that it matters, but Wichita State assistant Steve Forbes has agreed to become head coach at ETSU.

Is that one of the mods doing the speculating or just a poster?

@ChuckCarltonDMN: Sources indicate that after several meetings with AD Steve Patterson, Texas MBB Rick Barnes will have to make changes in the program to stay

The UTX mod on 247 thinks that Barnes will not make staff changes. His non-VIP post from their 247 site:

From what I've been told I don't think Rick is making staff changes regardless. It's becoming pretty clear where this is heading, IMO.

Yep. Hopefully it'll have good coaches on there this time.

Sounds like we need to move now... or yesterday. Gotta get him locked up before schools like Texas and Indiana come knocking.

Exactly. If we let this go to Sunday or Monday and Texas opens up, it changes everything.

ETA: I do find the timing from Texas to be telling. Wichita State loses and that night we have reports of Texas either forcing Barnes to change or forcing Barnes out. I questioned why Texas waited but it's obvious that they know who they want if Barnes is dismissed.

I know it was Mal that hired AG....but the U of A or Mal or whoever followed the same protocol and invited him to tour the campus etc and pitched him
