If the Texas job opens up, maybe they would go after another guy. I guess that's what we could hope for because you're right, I don't see anyway he'd choose us over them. It's not like we'll outbid them.

So what makes Andy Katz more reliable than Lucky, etc? I've seen more of those ESPN talking heads end up with mud on their face recently than I can count. I couldn't get the video to play either. I'd like to know what Finebaum thinks or knows. He usually has good sources.

I heard Andy Katz on Finebaum. He basically gave his opinion. He never said anything that gave you an indication that he was basing his opinion on inside information.
These national guys that give us no shot and laugh at our chances to land Marshall crack me up. Its like they think we're some scrub athletic program.

Obviously not the same situation, but these talking heads were sure Grant wouldn't take the Alabama job six years ago. They had that stance right up to Grant flying to Tuscaloosa.

Nobody knows what any coach would do when given offer. Sometimes the coach himself doesn't know. For anyone to say one way or another what Marshall will do if/when we offer him the job is pure speculation.
That said. I would be very surprised, yet ecstatic, if Marshall took our offer and was our coach next year. I do hope Battle and TPTB have a plan B and move quickly on it.
I'm kinda glad we missed out on Howland. His UCLA teams were so boring to watch.

I don't have the slightest expectation of landing Gregg Marshall. But I would love to see the backtracking on the SECr over it. That all aside, I believe it will be Plan B in the end. I just wish I knew what that was.

It does seem hard to fathom a scenario where a man at savvy as Bill Battle seems to be would allow this situation to get this far out of hand without some very solid information that we were at least being given serious consideration by Marshall.

Just from listening to Katz vs. Parrish it seems like Parrish has a way better grasp on what is actually going on.

He goes on to talk about why we are finally starting to see some big hires like this: The SEC Network. The SEC needs a good basketball product for the SEC network to thrive. He had a discussion with Mike Slive back in January about this. There are only so many football games you can show on the network. Basketball provides sooo many more options for content.
He also addressed a few things that people keep bringing up:
- Marshall likely takes the UCLA job if they had waited until after the tournament
- The Koch brothers likely will play no part in this because they care very little about the basketball program (as in they aren't going to match some $4m offer)
- Teams that chased him last offseason lowballed him

Battle has not issued a single word on this situation so not sure why you or anyone is blaming all this media hype and speculation on the current AD

Not blaming anyone... You don't know who Battle has talked to and neither do I....Doubt CBS is reporting speculation as fact though
