Would really heat up the competition along the OL. Every spot is already in pencil.

So has anyone heard anything about whether there will be some staff turnover or not? I kinda thought that after the portal closed, there would be a few changes made.

I posted this in another thread but the contract "year" for Kap and Nunez runs through Feb 28th, so it's possible that KDB is giving them time to find new jobs before letting them go so they can earn out their contracts for the year.
It's also possible that KDB is waiting for guys in the NFL to finish their seasons.
I get that fans are anxious, but so long as any planned moves are made before Spring camp opens, we should be fine. I don't see any real need to make the move(s) now.
Didn't CNS wait until a coach had found a new job before announcing a replacement?

I think they do a lot of that on defense and its great. But OL is probably not the best place to do that; definitely not at the frequency we did last year. That shite was unheard of.
Well, if the staff feels like all they're going to get is three years with the majority of the guys they recruit, they may think that getting them into rotation for reps as early as possible is the way.
I think rotating guys on the o-line can work in the same way rotating guys on the d-line.
Some guys better at run blocking? Bring them in on early downs?
Got a guy that can pass block his arse off? Third down reps for him.
Definitely an interesting experiment.

As long as we don’t get too predictable cool.
I could’ve won a lot of money predicting us to run for little to no gain everytime we went trips tight formation.

You're certainly welcome to your opinion, but can you name one team, at any level, that has been successful when rotating OL with the same frequency that most teams rotate DL?
I'm not as old as some posters on this board, but I can't recall ever watching a football team rotate guys on the OL like we did this year.

I actually think the OL haul is pretty damn good and we should be much improved there

This. And I don’t think the listed OTs will all end up tackles.

Agreed. I think one of the most important parts about the haul is that the guys we've brought in are versatile and can play multuple positions across the line, which will be extremely helpful in ensuring we have our best 5 out there, regardless of position.

We did it because we didn’t have answers at 3 of the 5 spots almost all season.

I know. The point was teams don't rotate OL to give themselves some sort of advantage. If there was an advantage to rotating OL like normal teams do with DL, you'd see teams at all levels doing it.

Man I expected this to get more positive discussion.
We are now deep at tackle, have really talented young options who fit the system and even a guy with SEC starting experience at LT.
I think we’ve rebuilt the OL comprehensively with guys who fit our system (outside of one or two guys) and outside of signing the Peak kid from NCSU I don’t know how we could’ve done any better given what we entered with and who was actually available in the portal.
When Wilkin Formby is a top portal tackle it’s important to realize what the market is and isn’t.

I think teams want a 6th OL, often a tackle that plays as a TE or fullback on some plays when your team is trying to establish it. You'd love to have 8 OL who they fill confident in but 5 that are going to play every snap barring injury.

A lot of posters here don’t want to discuss positives

I didnt realize he actually committed. Good get. I'd imagine he can play several spots along the line.

We now have two tackles who started in SEC action last year. The entire interior is getting replaced. However, both guard positions sucked in 2025 and Brailsford is gone to the draft. It was going to be this way no matter what but at least we have quality options to sort out at G-C-G.
We're so much better off than we could have been considering we lost our only two good upperclassmen linemen. I actually think we will find 2 good guards and a center now. The left tackle question is answered.

That is the most important spot to fill with a good player. My money is on Delcatty, but supposedly Waldrep is good too. Not sure about the michigan kid

I think it’ll be the loser or losers of the LT battle likely competing and/or starting at OG.
With all the pieces there’s no reason to think they can’t piece together something that will better fit their system and generate a productive run game.
Safe to say there will be wars fought in the spring and fall for PT.

Can't say that I've ever seen it, but nobody had seen the forward pass until 1906 either.

Rotating d-linemen didn't really become a super popular thing until the 2010s.
