I’ve been waiting on him to look at the run game.

Basically it’s not Grubb’s fault in terms of scheme or playcalling as much as it’s the OL’s fault for failing to execute. Our RT in particular is atrocious. Either he’s poorly coached or he’s hard to coach up but he has the same exact horrible mistakes he’s been having since game 1.

Now you add in Jam who acts like he’s running behind our 2020 OL with all the time in the world to stand around and pick an opening, and you end up with this mess. He’s right Hill should be getting the carries. He’s a stiff runner but at least he always falls forward.

Crowell will be starting by next October. On tape he's the best back to come out of high school since Henry and Fournette. He's just a natural

Yeah, but clearly the best back doesn't necessarily get to play. I mean everyone is assuming that AK Dear is completely clueless when it comes to pass blocking. Maybe so.

Crowell better be a master of pass blocking if he wants to see the field, even if he runs like Barry Sanders.

Darby was a bright spot on some mediocre teams in 2004/5.

Rushed for 1000yds both seasons and was 1st team all SEC.

Why is he catching strays.

im sorry, I know hes a senior, but Jam is just a terrible RB. Even in the darkest of dark years for Bama football, there were better RBs than this. The dude is just slow both with actually running and making decisions.

I think hes not right whether due to injuries or mentally, but hes not seeing or reacting with enough speed and drive to be the primary back for a CFP level team.

Young was even worse in terms of indecision.

The only decisive back we have who can be functional with the blocking we have up front is Hill due to his downhill style and size.

And Formby...my goodness. Watching the tape is brutal.

Too slow to block the edge.

Too slow to be a pulling guard.

Lacks the power to be a road grader guard.

We just don't have a RT capable of playing the position against average to elite defenses and yet we continue to run right, often off the edge with him and a group of receivers and TEs (Horton in particular) who haven't sealed an edge in their life.

If its me I'm going with Hill in the backfield, Carroll at RT and I'm getting my weak arse receivers split way wide then running inside dive and zone off Proctor and I'm not doing it 11 times on first down. What that proved to LSU I will never know.

I don't blame Grubb for what's happened particularly when Ty can't deliver accurately on the deep ball, but that was not a sharp performance even accounting for the fact that it was a really good LSU defense (not great because without Weeks at LB they aren't élite anymore IMO).

If we're gonna throw away plays I'm taking deep shots where if it hits its 30 or 6 and at a minimum I'm getting the safeties trained to back peddle to open up the slant behind the edge rush.

I'm not throwing away first downs against OU with Jam tapdancing and our RT looking like he's trying to set a record for most highlights gifted to edge/DEs in the NFL draft this cycle which only encourages DC's to pack the box and take away the short to intermediate passing game.

Well said. Us not getting Carroll to the point where he could be an every down player is one of my disappointments this year. I'm sure he's got issues but he's got an edge to him and can maul people in the run game.

The thing with Carroll is even if he struggles at least he’s struggling towards productivity next year when the OL is completely blown up:
LT - NFL draft
LG - graduated
C - NFL draft
RG - graduated
RT - platoon

I mean wouldn’t everyone feel better with Carroll getting snaps somewhere? If he’s dinged I get it, if not what is currently being lost relative to current performance?

The play where we ran the reverse off RT we tried to get a quick jump on the edge guy who was way wide (~9 tech/D gap) so we could seal the edge and were so slow with the footwork trying to get his shoulder the dude slid right across and shot the B gap to blow up the play.

And while LSU has a pretty solid DL it’s nothing compared to what is waiting Saturday with OU not to mention the exotic blitz packages and attempts to steal signs (this is as concerning to me as the DL) that had Jalen Milroe rocking back and forth with his knees tucked into his chin by the 4Q last year in Norman.

grubb going brain dead, as he tends to do in every game.
For some reason Grubb is obsessed with the short side of the field. He runs plays that need 'space' into areas there is no space. It baffles me.

Grubb needs to hire a tough veteran OL running coach that can help him in the run game. I believe he really needs the guidance.

That's two players. 2012 Bama for example had Kouandijo, Fluker, Jones, Steen, and Warmack. Ryan Kelly was waiting in the wings as a freshman.

Also, for 10 years the OL was coached by Joe Pendry, Jeff Stoutland, and Mario Cristobal. That's as good as it gets. Stoutland actually has two Super Bowl rings as an OL coach. Maybe OL is a place DeBoer needs to take a hard look at for his 2026 staff.

How dare you say that about the ultra “5 star” RBs on Bama’s roster.
Don’t you know it’s bad coaching and bad schemes when Jam tiptoes through the wrong gap?

Our Center is already all this and our LT will at worst be a first rounder.

We have a very weak link at RT which is a wild card and very weak RB play.

What rankings rated Jam a 5-star?

If not sooner. Kid is the best high school back I've seen in person. Just a freak athlete and is gonna be a stud at Bama.
