Tried to check out their website but it's down. What's their atmosphere like? Selection any good? Think it'll stick?

Yeah. One of my friend works there actually so I have been there a good bit.

Pretty cool atmosphere. Plenty of room and tables inside. Seems like there is always a small band playing. Really good food truck outside.

Met the owners and they are pretty cool guys.

If I am being completely honest...The beer is pretty mediocre imo. There is one kind that's pretty good but I am forgetting the name of it. I'll post it if I remember. I remember one of the owners telling me it's all a work in progress though. They are working on some new beers also.

I definitely recommend you check it out though. I have fun whenever I go.

Agree with Gary and hambone for the most part. You should definitely check it out. I thought the beer was good. It is no Druid City but they set a high mark for quality of beer. Better than Black Warrior for sure though.

The owners are genuinely nice dudes.

Thanks for the info, guys. I actually prefer Black Warrior to Druid City. Part of that is just that I can't get into Druid City's brewpub setup.

Can anyone recall styles? All I've read about is their saison which isn't my thing.

I think their saison is really good. Their IPA was really good when I had it at Bacon and Brewfest. It wasn't at the brewery when I went after they first opened. They also had a belgian blonde called Monk on the Radio and a very drinkable dark beer called Voodoo Mild.

When I talk about it being better than Black Warrior, I am talking about beer only. Not taprooms. I think Black Warrior has a really nice taproom. Their beer is shite though.

I think they're hit or miss. Black Warrior has some truly dreadful concoctions, but I've also had a couple that were extremely tasty (granted it's been a while and I can't remember what they were, so you're point isn't entirely invalidated).

Yeah, they're the Avondale of Tuscaloosa. Avondale makes absolutely terrible beer, but they have a sweet taproom.

All I've got in town are Aldi, Albertson's, and Wal-Mart.

ETA: There used to be a Winn-Dixie in Fort Worth before I got here.

My aunt lives over in Arlington. I know they have the world of beer or another big liquor store over there that has it. I can't remember where it is, but I know it's where you can get bubble tea.

Thanks for the heads up, man. I live in Weatherford, not that far. Next time I'm in Arlington I'll take a peak. Sucks though, even with three beer imporiums in my town I can't find Sweetwater or even those bomb-arse Lazy Magnolia brews from Mississippi. Can, however, get Ballast Point if I'm looking to splurge.

No Piggly Wiggly either? I'm always surprised by their selection of beer.

Living in Birmingham, you can throw a rock a hit a few places. Love having a Hop City here too.

Wish Ghost Train would bottle their IPL, not a big fan of the Blonde and Brown ales. So I can have it from the comfort of my home and/or not invest in a growler

Oh shite, I love Weatherford. My cousin lives over on the lake in Bridgeport Texas. Actually owns the burger joint called Rock City. Last time I was there, we met up with his friend in Weatherford and hung out downtown. Place is really nice. Love the courthouse

Oh, no way man! I've yet to try Rock City. Yeah, I love it here. If you're ever in town again give me a shout!

Yeah dude, I was in Orange Beach over the Summer, and we hit up Winn Dixie just about every day. Definitely miss that.

Black Warrior has had several small batch IPAs that were pretty good. A red IPA/ (perhaps an imperial red) in particular. I didn't try anything else. I can see their Avondale comparison, though.

I've had Druid City's porter at their taproom and I wasn't impressed. They didn't have lamplighter.

Speaking of Birmingham beer, a buddy of mine told me Good People got a massive shipment of barrels. Has to be for a new Fatso/Gordo, right?

Have you tried the Riverside Saison from DC?

Have not, but as I mentioned before, I'm not a saison fan.

I like IPAs, stouts, pale ales, and amber ales generally
