I saw that you were getting released from the hospital. Praise Jesus!!! I will continue to pray for you and your family...and for your wife to give up smoking too. Look forward to your contributions during the “next” football season.

Damn.

Good luck, brother.

Glad to see you home safe.

Agreed. I don't think the ADPH numbers are inflated and I'm sure quite a few of the reported ones are legit covid. I was just giving an example of why ADPH just doesn't take the local source's word for it.
It seems like most of the reported deaths eventually get confirmed by the ADPH. It just takes a while for them to investigate each individual one. Currently there are 53 reported deaths, and they have confirmed 39 so far.

Stay strong.

I quit smoking back in 2001 when I went into the hospital. My husband continued to smoke and I continued to complain about the smell.

A couple of years later, he had to have surgery and he quit while in the hospital. I kept encouraging him and so far we both haven't smoked since.

Set her up with a comfortable place on under a covered patio or porch. Make the designated smoking area outside. That will make it a lot easier for you.

Dr. Robert Redfield, the Director of the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), predicted that the death toll from the coronavirus will be “much, much, much lower” than the models have projected due to Americans following social distancing recommendations.

HOST: We were talking about some of the models, thank god some of these numbers are falling short of some of these catastrophic numbers.

DR. ROBERT REDFIELD: First, models are only as good as their assumptions. Obviously, there was a lot unknown about this virus. It’s a way of beta testing how you’re going to respond and what it does to the different models. And models should never be used to assume that we have a number. You saw those numbers are quite staggering. You’ve got 200,000 to 2 million Americans are losing their lives before the fall.

HOST: Are throwing those kind of numbers out actually helpful because what they do is scare the hell out of everyone to social distance? Is that the purpose?

DR. REDFIELD: I think part of the importance of getting the American public’s attention that these models did, we really need the American public to be fully engaged now with great rigor and vigilance on the social distancing. As you pointed out, those models that were done, they assume only about 50 percent of the American public would pay attention to the recommendations. In fact, what we’re seeing is a large majority of the American public are taking the social distancing recommendations to heart. And I think that’s the direct consequence of why you’re seeing the numbers are going to be much, much, much lower than would have been predicted by the models.

I like what I see as far as a three day trend (Saturday-Monday). I'm hoping this week isn't as bad as predicted, today through Friday will really give us some strong indicators about where we are headed.

Still as well as we are doing with volume overall of testing (over 2 mil) we still need to get our testing up per million to be confident we are getting this under control. The good news is that we are creeping in the right direction.

Were there no tests done yesterday in Alabama? At least that’s what the tracker seems to show

I usually look at the national numbers so I couldn’t confirm one way or another. I have seen on here that sometimes ADPH is slow to update for accuracy sake.

Interesting that mainland China didn't report a single death in the last 24 hours. From January through the first week in April China has reported a little over 3000 coronavirus deaths.

Something to watch given the belief this stuff got started in this region.

I wouldn't believe any numbers that China publishes, either high or low

Unfortunately, this is going to be our worse day for reported COVID deaths by far up to this point. We could go over 2000. Hopefully we will see new positive cases show some signs of stabilizing nationally.
