More than a third of U.S. counties have yet to report a single positive test result for COVID-19 infections, an analysis by The Associated Press shows.

Data compiled by John Hopkins University shows that 1,297 counties have no confirmed cases of COVID-19 out of 3,142 counties nationwide. Of the counties without positive tests, 85% are in rural areas — from predominantly white communities in Appalachia and the Great Plains to majority Hispanic and Native American stretches of the American Southwest — that generally have less everyday contact between people that can help transmit the virus.

At the same time, counties with zero positive tests for COVID-19 have a higher median age and higher proportion of people older than 60 — the most vulnerable to severe effects of the virus — and far fewer intensive care beds should they fall sick. Median household income is lower too, potentially limiting health care options.

Thought this was interesting and most of these people do not trust the government, hospitals, or any outsiders. There could 1000s of people in these counties with it and we might not never know.

That's why we need a vaccine. Some people will just go about their lives and can transmit the virus to others without knowing they carry it.

If we had a vaccine, the elderly and the people with health problems, especially lung problems, could vaccinated.

France officially sanctions drug after 78 of 80 patients recover from COVID-19 within five days
quote:

… Due to President Donald Trump fast-tracking Food and Drug Administration approval, New York state is testing hydroxychloroquine, chloroquine and azithromycin.

“The Food and Drug Administration has moved with ‘uncommon speed’ to authorize New York’s distribution of the drugs through hospitals,” The Daily Wire noted Thursday, citing a Washington Post report. “While experts say such an effort would usually take up to nine months, the timeline ‘has been compressed into three days,’ the paper reports.”

The Times repeatedly underscores that the treatment has not yet been proven to be effective by officials and highlights “concerns” among health experts about the Trump and Cuomo-promoted medications, which sometimes have dangerous side effects, like “fatal heart arrhythmia and vision loss.” Like The Washington Post’s editorial board, which has accused Trump of causing “damage” by pointing to the treatment as a potential “cure,” the Times suggests Trump, and to a lesser extent Cuomo, may be guilty of “raising false hopes in the American public” and “contribut[ing] to runs on supply and hoarding” of the drugs.

Adding to the anecdotal evidence, “Lost” actor Daniel Dae Kim said hydroxychloroquine was the “secret weapon” that helped him recover from coronavirus.

“And here’s what I consider to be the secret weapon: hydroxychloroquine,” Kim said in a video posted to social media, last week. “This is a common anti-malarial drug that has been used with great success in Korea in their fight against the coronavirus. And yes, this is the drug that the president mentioned the other day.”

Kim similarly underscored that Dr. Anthony Fauci has “cautioned” against hydroxychloroquine,” noting that evidence of its effectiveness against COVID-19 is “anecdotal.”

“That is correct … it is only based on personal accounts,” he stressed. “Well, add my name to those personal accounts, because I am feeling better.”

Just saw that Joe Diffie died from complications with Corona Virus.

While he wasn't the picture of health, he was only 61.

He had a lot of fun songs in the 90s.

and RIP Mr. Pickup Man

This crisis is turning folks into Libertarians. One youtube channel about the next economic crisis has over 500k views (it's a day old) with folks blaming the federal reserve.

So I clicked over and read the study.

As Joe Biden once famously said, this is a big fvvvckin deal.

The patients didn't just get better, they improved virtually immediately and were virus free in a week or less. Unless I read it wrong, the 2 that didn't show recovery were one that had to be dropped because of potential drug interactions and an 86 year old that died.

If New York's current test replicates the same results, that's pretty much game over for the national lockdown.

Gov. DeSantis: Rapid tests, travel checkpoints now part of Florida’s fight against coronavirus
quote:

TALLAHASSEE, FLGov. Ron DeSantis outlined Florida’s renewed fight against the coronavirus outbreak Saturday -- it includes a shipment of a pharmaceutical drug, new COVID-19 tests and enforced travel checkpoints along major interstates...

The governor said he is increasing efforts to supply hydroxychloroquine in the state, turning to colleagues in Israel to supply the pharmaceutical drug.

“There haven’t been many effective treatments for the coronavirus,” Gov. DeSantis said, adding the drug seemed to work in New York.

Hydroxychloroquine, a drug typically used to treat lupus and malaria, has been praised by President Donald Trump saying it shows “tremendous promise” in treating COVID-19. Its use to treat coronavirus has become controversial as medical professionals advise against its use since it has not been put through a clinical trial, others saying it can still be used as a weapon in the war against the pandemic.

“I’m no doctor,” Gov. DeSantis said. “I do believe in the right to try.” ...
